Fresh ewc are by far the best thing you can give the girls. Mixed in the soil, layers, spikes, topdresses!!

I say make the EWC right in the pot. I've been experimenting with composting directly in the pot like a small plot of land. My compost piles are small of course but the worm activity is amazing. I have yet to plant in one of my compost piles but I will keep everyone updated!

My favorite soil mix is 33% Peat, 33% horse manure worm compost, 33% turface mvp aeration(calcined clay rocks). To that I add 5% by volume biochar soaked in alfalfa and kelp. You should add other amendments as well, but this bad boy mixture has never let me down. All props go to clackamas coot for the ratios!

Spikes and layers are areas in your soil that have enriched nutrients.
Today I’m going to amend my 6 gallon planters with fresh compost and some Gaia 4-4-4.
Then I’ll be mixing up some fresh compost, fresh ewc, kelp meal, fish bone meal, coco coir, Gaia power bloom and gypsum. I will use this mixture to make a 3” layer on the bottom of my planter. As well I will have 4, 2” by 8” round holes filled with this mixture that are placed around the planter. These are the spikes.
As the plant matures the roots reach the layers and spikes for that extra nutrient blast.
Along with my 3/4” topdress of fresh ewc at 2 and 4 weeks of flower, the girls are provided with ample nutrients to finish up nicely.
