short plants? what am i doing wrong?

ok so growing two plants at the moment and ive veged a few before the same exact way. seeds were all from different bags, i just had a jar.

the tallest plants ive had are the ones now that i got as clones. they have grown quite a few nodes but havent gotten very tall. id say about 10-12in max. My set up is a box, larger than needed but got tired of the tiny one. there are 5 lights pluged into the power strip hanging over the tops of the plants. lights are about 2 in away from plants and i barley ever move them up because the plants dont seem to stretch for the light just grow one node on top of the other. These were going to be mothers so this makes it hard to get clones. about 5 weeks old and the longest branch is maybe 2 1/2in.

what lights you using

first off, you never know what your going to get with bagseed
#2, Your lights have a lot to do with it. Penetration, Lumens, etc..

#3... Plants need to build a good root structure. The bigger the Root ball, the bigger the plant and yield. Its a fact.

What size pots or buckets are u using.
How often do you water?
And, Are you CFL'Ing? Or HPS.?

5 26 watt cfls. plan on doing more as i have time to construct a fixture. they were just moved out of 8in pots into these Tupperware containers. Id guess the containers are between 2 to 3 gallons. watered about once every 2 to three days. new box wont dry the dirt out as much. schultz veg nutes (half strength).

try lifting your lights so the plant starts to stretch towards them
are you using nutes, nitrogen is a must for strong growth

sorry didn't see the part about nutes what CFLs you using cool whites etc

5 27w 65k and 1 23w 27k. I have a couple 42w 27k but i dont have the time to figure out how to set them up right now. This grow is some medical strain of ak called ak oozer. I agree on a really strain maybe medical plant because it was cloned but not completely sure. anyways on my last grow, bagseed, i had 8 27w 65k lights in a white box spread over the top evenly across 2 plants and they were short also.

get better light bigger or more cfl"s and the point isnt to make them tall i would trade tall n slim for short n thick
