Should I be concerned about low humidity levels?

My seeds have yet to break the surface of the soil, and I'm concerned about the humidity level. In the box humidity stays at 38-41%. My humidifier is broken... tried some methods to raise the level but nothing works for more than a few minutes. Should I be concerned about a low humidity level before the plants have sprouted? Temp stays between 70-75 F. I've read that humidity should be over 80% until the sprouts come up, and then lower levels are fine.

For seeds themselves? NO, but they'll sprout and then , yes for sure

It won't kill a grow, but the benefits of high humidity in veg cycle are huge. The extra thickness of the lush, high humidity vegetative growth give the plant a significant additional buffer against just about everything that can go wrong! There's actually quite a few reasons, but basically when the humidity is too low in veg, your plant will get really thin, brittle leaves. Leaves like this just can't take much abuse. You want to start them fat, and plump, cuz flowering is really gonna be hard on them bitches.

edit- for most people I here shallow pans of water will work? Or get a mister on a timer? There should be a 40 dollar solution out the somewhere for you : - )

Thanks... so over 80% before they sprout and then 60%-80%? I read that higher than 80% in veg can cause mold. How do you raise the humidity for your plants? I put an electric tea kettle in there and boiled some water... ghetto but it works.

response to edit- Yea, I had shallow pans but didn't work too well for me.

There's a whole host of problems that can arise from high humidity. Anything over 70 % is unhealthy for the plant. If you didn't know it a plant has to be able to transpire moisture out of it's pores (stomata) to draw nutrients up from the roots.
Really the only drawback to low humidity is you have to water more often.
I have to pay big bucks with a dehumidifier to keep the my humidity below 70 % here in the Pacific North West.

So low humidity is good then... I'm about 200 pages into the grow bible and they haven't once mentioned this. It's probably a matter of preference, like so many things... thanks all.

Somewhat higher levels of humidity in veg are good but low humidity is good in flower. It promotes resin production and high humidity inhibits resin production in flower. Higher humidity causes long tall trichomes that are less likely to have has high of a THC percentage as they otherwise would and they are more prone to breaking off when plants are handled/harvested and increases the chances of mold and bud rot.

See i think the confusion for you is the different stages. I like to be at 65%RH and 76 degrees to veg. I don't know that this is perfect, but it has really been my sweetspot. When i move into the flowering room I try to stay at or alittle above 42-45%RH, and obviously I bump the temp down to 74. Getting big lights is the easy part. Configuring all this shit in a small area, and getting within the proper grow parameters.....that's the fun part!

Im not sure how many watts, maybe 15w. It ups it between 10-15% depending how hot you keep it.

I keep my humidity between 40-45% in flower and I mist 2-3 times daily during veg.
