making cookies out of cake mix tomorrow with cannaoil.. But should I decarb my weed before making the cannaoil? Or will making the cannaoil automatically decarb my weed?
I finally did that skepler not on the stovetop though...I did it in a glass pie pan in the oven at 250f and it worked great thanks for the help with that hun
i did iso without decarb, and put pg/vg mix into a mason jar, then thru the iso dab into the jar n let it dissolve. I have an electric oven and never went over setting 3. nothing ever boiled. just hot water.I am not sure what you mean by water bathed? also what type oil? like a bho oil? @skepler is really the one to answer this for you though...
Thanks for the further reading. I have yet to seen anything to contradict that graph. Even 3 year old, low temperature, alcohol extracted resin still out gasses for 25+ minutes at 250°F. I am a retired IC process engineer, specializing in photo-chemistry, optics and temperature control. I agree, I always watch the decarb process, only in liquid materials, never dry leaf. 26°C is 79°F, pretty warm. Using the standard of a chemical reaction time being cut in half for every 10°C increase in temperature means at 16°C, or 61°F the 'natural decarbing' would occur at twice the time you mention. I can't tell what time you are attributing to which temperature, 26°C or 'standard room temperature'. In any case, the only reason I bring it up is I have some two-year old bud that I have done a recent extraction of. The oil from that decarbs just like fresh bud oil does. It would be really helpful to have easily accessible gas-chromatography to analyze results. From what I am seeing about testing, the results are inconsistant, and it sounds like some industrial standards need to be developed as NIST does. A recent test of ten edibles by the Denver Post showed 10-50% errors WRT what was on the packaging.Weed will naturally decarb In about 4 months or 240 days thca's halflife which is 35 days or a tad longer at 26°c, or standard room temp in normal environment
There are so many variables the half life can vary up to 90 days .
If your ever unsure of the current state, as always the best method is to watch it decarb visually. You can quite literally watch it decarb. This is what should be done every time and is the reason most edibles are sedating
But room temp is the best and will fully decarb, more efficiently-getting more thc
Ooh from my last conversation..
Ummm I didn't open the picture but based on the context I will assume that's the Russian graph your speaking of . Yeaaa its already been deemed innacurate many times (also with questionable sources), even our own fade who popularized it has acknowledged. Though this is fundamental chemistry. The lower the heat used the better. These processes are non linear, doesnt matter if talking about degradation or vapor pressures.besides all that If you know how decarbing works, it just doesnt make sense.
The good folks at ncbi
Have stated when decarbed at 500(your lighter. And remember bics limiting o2 design) 50% or so makes it as intact thc, when decarbed at 210 70% makes it..when decarbed at 170 something like 81% when decarbed without heat its in the high 80's...at that point light and air oxidation will play a factor and limit you, also decarbing will never give a 100% return as the cooh group is missing..
thca converts to active thc now a smaller molecule, the rest is degraded to delta 8 and to a lesser extent some cbn is formed...cbn starts to rapidly form just over 400°f

hahaha, I'm just here because you wrote "or nah" in the title.making cookies out of cake mix tomorrow with cannaoil.. But should I decarb my weed before making the cannaoil? Or will making the cannaoil automatically decarb my weed?
