Should i spray my grow room before i start growing?

Hi all,

Just finished building my small indoor grow room and now waiting for my feminized lemon kush seeds to arrive.

The room is freshly made and painted, sealed ect. Do you think i should get some kind of insect/bug killer in solution form and dilute it, then spray the whole inside of my grow area just to minimize any bugs wanting to inhabit the area before i start?

Ive seen some products that can be sprayed and it will keep most bugs/insects away for up to a month or so? Just trying to nip stuff in the bud before they start.

If you do think its a good idea, do you recommend any products? i live in New Zealand by the way.

Cheers all

sure, why not. some neem oil is a good basic preventative. good to have around for any grower.
Need oil? Wonder if hey have that in New Zealand? I will look for it tomorrow. Will it make my walls sticky? Want something not sticky as over time dust and stuff may stick to walls and maybe dull o miss color them. Prefer something that dries. Cheers buddy

Hopefully, and it is highly probable (no foreign plants near your tent) that you will never get a infestation. I wouldn't bother personally, because it would really be useless as most all insecticides are a contact killer generally, like you directly have to spray the insect and eggs.
As mentioned by UB above, Neem oil, is a very good general purpose insecticide, so for your peace of mind get a bottle (available at garden centers and Amazon), keep it around in case you do get some bugs, and you will be fine.

Thanks for that bud. Will the oil dry out or leave a greasy film on my walls allowing dust particles to stick to it?

It definitely will fuck your walls up. It is designed to smother the insect, so once it dry's it is useless.
Anything out there is really a contact pesticide, so you really don't want to enter that shit into your room unless you need it.
It's good that you are thinking down the line, but really don't sweat it that much. Get some Neem oil, put it on a shelf just in case, and all will be good. Take care
