Should I Start Flowering

Should I start Flowering? I am in about 3 1/2 weeks of veg about 5 1/2 weeks total. (400w HPS)

Still can't tell the sex, any guesses when it will show.

I kept it close to the light so it is bushy as hell (how will that change the yeild?). Should I prune a bit for a higher yeild?

Thanks for the help first grow.

don't prune!! give it another week or two b/c looks to only be 2 plants (hence bigger yield), always be flowering!! ;) you will be able to tell sex 3-5 days into flowering.

I do have a small fan mostly on my ballast but I can move it to cool the plants a little better. I had been thinking that they where nute burned.

I will go try to take a better pic

holy shit those are some big ass leafs... your plant doesnt look to healthy honestly, Id wait until it looks healthy before putting it into flowering.

looks to be heat stress, whats the temp at the top of the plants?

Here are some better pics, my camera hates the light!

I have worried about the light, but they don't feel hot on the top. Is it bad to be lightly blowing air past your ballast into the plants?

they had a great growth spurt this past week, but most grew out and bushy, most of the leaves start to twist and curl into themselves.

I will raise the light,

My rule is to atleast veg for 6 weeks, but i know thats hard when you have limited space. Anyhow, veg them longer...20-25" is perfect.

Motoracer110 is right, you have heat stress. I keep my lights about 8-12" from the tops with a fan blowing.

a good rule is to put your hand at the top of your plants and if its too hot for the back of your hand then raise the lamp

And make sure your room temp is between 70-85f. By the look of your pic its a closet grow, prolly no intake or exhaust?

Not a closet between a desk and the corner.

Perhaps I will move the desk b/c the light is about a foot and 1/2 away but I will get some cooler air in there.

I have done the back of the hand thing and it's fine, I now bet it an air circ problem that is leading to higher heat.

Moved the light up... placed the fan bettter... opened up the sides.

After one day looks much better.

I think I will start flowering early next week. They are bushy as all hell, what does that mean about the plant, higher or lower yeild.

BTW they are Atomic NL
