Should I switch from using CFL to a friend's 600W HPS for a single plant?

Hey all, after a successful summer of outdoor growing I want to give a shot at indoor growing and am currently in the 3rd week of vegging a single g13xBuddha plant under a 100W CFL. A buddy of mine just harvested his first grow and is offering to lend me his 600W HPS for the rest of my grow. I am excited at the though but is it stupid to use such a high power light for a single plant? I definitely want big, heavy buds and to maximize my yielt but I don't know if I have the adequate space for it since the light gets so fucking hot. I have a small 3ft L x 18 inch W x 6ft H closet that I am currently using a small corner of to veg in. I am also considering retrofitting a cabinet into a little grow box but am not sure what dimensions are best for a single plant. I am also looking at grow-tents if need be ( I am saving money on the light after all).

All I'd like to know is if I should I use the 600W HPS? And if so, what is the minimum space I need?

I'm far from being an expert but since no one else responded I thought I might add my two cents. I think you will be fine using a 600w on a single plant, make sure your not burning that plant out though if your light is so close. Also I would guess a 600w would get pretty hot so you will need a far sized room and definitely have some air cooling system going on.

seems like overkill especially if your not growing a female seed or clone. It's gonna be tomuch heat for your space too so you'd have to set up something else.

The thought of a 600w hps is slight overkill for one plant, BUT if you dont mind spending extra money to keep the light cool, ie. inline fan, ducting, cooltube/cool-reflector, filter and odor sock, then this could work very well for you! BUT THATS A 'BIG' 'IF' you dont mind spending the extra money. Otherwise that lamp will get so damned hot it would be a fire risk in most sized cupboards - STELTHY:leaf:
