Should I switch over to a bed, instead of pots?

Ive been using 3 gallon pots ever since I put my room together, but im thinking of building a elevated bed on casters thats about a foot deep, Id build it 9x5 ft, then line it with plastc and put about 10inches of soil in. and then put in like 40 or 50 plants. I want to get my babies up off of the cold concrete floor. what do you think? think it will increase my yield?

the way you control the amount of nutes your plant recieves is the amount you mix in with their water. it doesnt really matter if the roots are intermingled or not.

No way so that's how you mix nutrients! Thanks bro, I doubt anyone on here really got that. But hypothetically, lets say you had one plant in particular out of all of those that was over time starting to show nutrient deficiencies or toxicity, which can happen even if they're all cloned from the same mother, how are you going to take care of it? Plus, this is most likely to happen with either a runt plant that's getting too much nutes because it's not getting as much light, or with your best looking plant that had it's growth take off and is now hogging the light from the runt. Lots of different reasons to stay with pots

I had a friend do the same thing you mention and out of ten plants only 8 made it through the full cycle the other two were choke out by more dominant plants. When we dug up the roots to check what may have happened, the roots were tangled and you could see how the other plant took over its root ball. Seriosly think twice about letting roots mingle.

I would keep them all in seperate pots just so you can move them easier. It is much better to keep everything modular.

yea I think you guys are right. I'll stick to the pots, I still want to build a table so they're up off the ground.
I just got the idea from a friend who uses beds with awesome results, but then again he has way more lights than me

Beds is the new thing, Lots of differeing opinions. I'll take a pic of a grow I'm taking part of... try to post it here tomorrow. Unbelievable growth... If I hadn't seen it myself i would never have believed it. Less than 3 weeks of growth, plants are the best I've ever seen.
