Should i switch to HPS?

My baby is doing awesome, super bushy, but staying pretty short. I am currently under 600ww MH 18hrs. If i switch over to the HPS 18hrs will the different light promote vertical growth? I'd post a pic but my camera's battery is recharging. Basically she is only 9" tall but 12" wide and looks like a green puff ball of goodness.

itll stretch more with the hps light im assuming your not lst'ing, you should post some pics so that wya you can get a better answer.

Just wait until you change over to 12/12. I would just wait until the plant goes into bloom where the red spectrum is needed.

Dont worry about being bushy, she will stretch like crazy when you flip to flowering. You want to keep them as compact as possible now, the height will come when you flip to 12-12. In fact, I like to keep the MH on for the first week or two after I flip lights. You should double or more in size within 1-2 weeks after to change your lights.

Man, I begged under a 400 watt metal halide and then bought a 400-600-1000w + turbo charged (1100w) hps, and I gotta say they get a little shock from the switch, but I have definitely seen improved growth with the hps. I've only begged one under the hps, its an og kush and its still short and bushy like mine were under the metal halide, but its growing way faster than the other ones.

In all fairness to my old school magnetic core mh setup, I did have other environmental problems my first time through veg that cost me 2-3 weeks of growth, so it doesn't surprise me that the og is doing so well.

One great thing about having both tho, is that A), its more natural to the plant to have the blue spectrum initially, then the yellow spectrum for flower, and B) the switch in spectrums alone is enough to make your plants flower as long as they have begged long enough, even without flipping to 12/12. My plants begged for close to 2 months from seed and were showing pistils 3 says after I put them under the hps for 16 hours a day.

Flowering under MH results in higher resin and smaller buds/ plants. Flowering under HPS results in heavier/leafier buds with bigger branches and height. what you really want to do is use both together. OR. Switch during your flowering cycle. I'm currently working on figuring out when the plants want which type of light. I've got some NE bagseed called "Organic Chocolate" and I'm trying this: first 2 weeks MH, Weeks 3-6 HPS, Weeks 7-9 MH. The MH helps w/ resin production and the HPS helps w/ flower/bud/pistil production. I like to start it off w/ the MH b/c that's what I use in veg and it's less stressful to the plant. Once it shows flowers (2 weeks) I switch to the HPS to get the leaf bunches going, and get the weight on my buds. After the main push of the plant I turn on the MH which has a spectrum that harms the plant and causes it to produce resin to protect the leaf matter and get me more high. So yea..... I think that's a pretty fucking awesome answer haha

Umm.. not true, the plants will show sex(pistils) once they are old enough regardless of the light spectrum, but they will NOT start to flower just from changing to HPS unless you reduce the hours. Cannabis (except ruderalis) is a photoperiod plant, it will begin flowering based on the build up of (dammit cannot remember the hormone, too lazy to look it up) the appropriate hormone which only happens if they have sufficient time in the dark.
