Should I transplant before Flowering Stage?

The current plant I have is 5 and a half weeks old in roughly a 1 gallon pot. I am going to initiate flowering in about three or four days and I was wondering if Its ok to transplant this close to flower? Will the transplant shock hurt the plant too much? I was thinking about transplanting into a 5 gallon bucket that I have. Im using Fox Farm Ocean Forest for soil and I already drilled holes in the bucket for drainage. Also, to initiate flowering, should I give it one day of complete darkness then switch to 12/12? If anybody has advice on this I'd greatly appreciate your input.

Wats up man.
A few days even a week before the switch is a good time to transplant. Gives the roots the space they need for the bloom stretch.
A lot of people do give them darkness before the switch, imo its a mild shock and the growth right after is noticeable.
How many watts do you have her under?

Thanks for the quick reply cheeba.. Right now I have only one plant and shes under 4 26 W CFL's 2 13 W CFL's and a LED. The 4 26's are top lighting while the rest are side lighting. All bulbs are 6500K with the LED being 2700K.. Trying to definitely add more lights for flowering. I understand the spectrum has to change to 2700K

Yes it would help a great deal for more dense nugs.
So im guessin you have some pretty tight node spaces.

Yea, friend you definately want to create more space for your root growth and operation leaving out of veg into flower. The key is knowing how to conduct the plants veg needs and flower needs. First you mental note: how long you choose to veg before flowering. If you choose to veg 42 days then you want to start off in starter cup for the first 2-3 weeks. This is to establish good root systems. Some plants grow extremely rapid so you may need to transplant exactly at two weeks (14 days) into a 1-2 gallon pot which gives you a good calculation of time to mature your plant before you switch to flower. Its 1 gallon per 28 days. Its going to take anywhere from 2 1/2- 3 months for flower so whatever you vegged in youre going to want to up it 3 sizes at least. This strategy and wisdom helps cover space and time needed to complete the whole stages of flowering. So you do want to switch to a 5 gallon. Thatll cover flowering period without the need to transplant. It is imparative that you never should have so much as budge the pot while shes producing you know... This also helps prevent root sorrows such as root bound and running out of root space. This varies with more factors (such as strain and genetics, how long you plan on vegging, and grow space etc). But what I gave is basics on potting and transplanting according to your grow time and space. Also some start off in big pots. Its just not wise to do.
