Should I trim fan leaves?

oh lord lol thats a dangerous question to ask here. I would have done some training to deal with that stretch, you dont really have a ton of fan leaves to spare. If you get rid of any id keep it to a single digit number, dont go nuts

There's not much light to block. You need those leaves for photosynthesis. What's the point of that screen? I see a lot of people throwing a screen into their grow because they saw some else doing it and then not even using it to train the plants with. You need more light not fan leaf trimming.

Shouldn’t he have pushed that top through the screen? Can he still do it or should he cut it?

Screen is for canopy effect. But I figured that losing fan leaves now is a no. I probably should have topped a long time ago, but I didn't, so just dealing with the 4ft tall now.

you should have tucked that main branch if you wanted a canopy effect, not much of an even canopy at this point, which would be okay if you had more light, some strains stretch due to genetics, yours is probably just light hungry. Looks like you should have read up on SCROG growing a bit more before you started growing plants

The last thread on this subject got locked due to drama within it, people arguing over if defoliation works or not.

Trimming fan leaves and defoliating are hotly debated topics around here. A few trollish types pushed it to the point where mods locked the thread.

In your case it's cut and dry! Don't trim those leaves, there's barely any there. Before you worry about topping and trellises, you need more light in there bud.
This

don’t you agree he should tuck and if he can’t bend it top it.? Then lower the lights to that lower canopy. Or is he too late and should leave it?

I'd just leave it. Too much chance it stresses and goes hermie. He could reveg and then top it but without addressing the need for more light it's not going to help much now that he's flowering. At this point it's just a learning experience!

Let her finish out with as little interference as possible, get a handle on drying and curing, then buy a new light and train better next time around.

Well the whole point of the screen is to train the plant along it as it grows. But I see a bunch of new growers that just put a screen in and let everything just grow straight up through it. All it's doing is getting in the way as it makes it hard to move the plants around if you need to. It's like people see a screen in someones grow and just throw one in as well without understanding it's purpose.

I'd get it out of there and raise those smaller plants up closer to the lights.

I think a lot of people just use it to support the big fat buds they hope to grow

Hey all, my buds are finally growing in and the plant's really taking off. Was just wondering what would happen if I cut off some of the bigger fan leaves that block the light.
No.... but get a lot more light. That plant is stretched to hell coz your growing under candles

I would only cut fan leaves when you want light to get in.but that's just me
