Also to answer a question about the Solo's smell. To me its kinda limey, musky, woody(cedar), but ive never had the best nose to call it.lol
That's a nice garden you have there bro, your making the people advertising cob lighting on this site look bad
Your DIY is killing it :hump:

yeah i dont get that one either

sure it "looks" whiter but 580-620 is major YPF territory

and all that infra red energy seems to be working in the opposite direction of where we should be going. cant see that type of spectrum outyielding the current hps

no theyre not... aside from DE HPS both of those tech are as efficient as they were 40 years ago
LECs and T5s did not exist 40 years ago and electronic ballast have replaced mechanical ballast.these technologies are much more efficient than the T12 bulbs and HPS lamps we had 40 years ago.

What benefit did your t5s give you?
compaire with mars hydro and 4000k vero 18s (separate grows) my T5s gave me a higher yield and better quality (stronger and better tasting) using the same amount of power. I will admit that cobs produce more lumens per watt and I use led light bulbs to light my home. but spectrum and spectral balance are important in plant growth and leds can not produce a balanced broad spectrum blue light. which is important for vegetative growth and THC production as well as plant health. look at some of RM3s post or at club T5 for more information if you are truly interested. there are post on CHMs that are very informative too

ok 20 years ago for T5s, big whoop, theyre still at 90 lm/W since inception

LEC also over 20 years old, just recently used for horticulture though

Thanks OneHit for the compliments. I think everyone has what works for them and thats great. It takes all kinds to find out new methods, as for COBS they have worked great for me. Once again thx

I checked into it. Low lumens for the wattage. Great spectrum.
I don't think it can outperform a reg. HPS at the wattage.
Lumens are for humans bro :P
It just doesn't end up working like that. Look at the Horti Blue MH, somewhere just about 50% of the Lumen output of an HPS but yet can deliver at least 90% of the yield.
There's a lot going on with light spectrum that is clearly far beyond the scope of home/hoobbyish growers and the equipment we/they have

I know. I use them. Maybe it can hang. I just doubt it. Increased spectrum does make up for lack off total light to an extent.
Would be nice to have both which is what I thought they'd have achieved in that bulb.
But just spectrum. No lumens (how HPS is rated).

I'll try it next run on 1 plant n lyk.

Drown your plants in photons. All over the plant. Plants prefer red ones.

~400umoles of 400-700nm with a 90% weighting towards the 600-700nm region. Happy plant.

I think its been said a million times here that mars hydro sucks, they fail quickly, like quicker than a hps lamp.
hehe sold my last obe

Yeah that's a sweet setup, beautiful plants wow, awesome stuff
