Should i wash my Coco Croutons before the first use?

Like the title says. I've always used hydroton and i know i have to wash those before hand, but not sure about the coco croutons. This will be my first time using them. Anyone used it without washing them, did you notice any negative side effects?

do you have an ec/ppm meter?
if so, soak them in water and check the runoff, if it's more than slightly higher than what your water is then you need to wash them

if its compressed blocks id wash the hell out of it until water is running clear. if its a good brand coca probably don't have to but i still would
1st time i used coca i didn't wash it and i could never get my ph in rage or ec/ppm
