Should I Watch More

Going to mix some Vermiculite to my Happy Frog to bring more oxygen into the soil.

Is there something I should keep an eye doing this? Oh mixing 1 to 5.

I don't really understand vermiculite. It's supposed to help aerate the soil, but it also helps retain water. To me it seems like those two things could be in conflict...

I would ask, why do you think the happy frog soil needs more oxygen? And why use vermiculite and not perlite?

I used to add 25% perlite to my Happy Frog back before I switched to Roots Organic. I liked being able to water more often and compaction seemed to be better with it as well. I use Roots Organic now as it has tons of perlite and drains really well.

Vermiculite retains moisture - good for aeration too but holds on to moisture longer.
I find it helps temper the hydrophobic nature of peat based mixes.

However , pumice / perlite is just fine.

HF is basically OF with less amendments. Both need additional perlite.

Ok to recycle soil after grow too, just shake the soil off the roots and add some dolomite lime. The soil is basically inert at this point, anything planted with this recycled soil will require appropriate level feed.

OK used Lime on regular Garden and my understanding is it takes 6 months to work.

My Son is worried about doing this and been putting it in my Garden or Flower Bed.
