Should we "compromise" on gun control?

Back in 1976, Pete Shields, chairman of what is today the Brady Campaign, candidly laid out the blueprint for The New Yorker:
We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest. Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal."

Even though I don't believe in guns I still feel we should have the right to them. It will cause too much of an uproar if guns become anymore regulated. The ammo alone is pissing tons off I could only imagine if they took the actual gun away.

I see your point, they can do a lot of things, but to start taking guns away from the public will never happen in this country on any larger scale than a few small incidents like New Orleans and the likes.
I have quite a few weapons, and I would never give them up to anyone, ever. As a matter of fact, I just put a new Aimpoint holographic sight on my Assault Rifle and a tactical flashlight with flashing and a green laser dazzler built in on Mama's shotgun. It will blind a person at 25' in broad daylight and over 50yds at night.

I like these weapons, but they are loud and a bit cumbersome, I actually prefer my air rifle for quiet operations, as it is silenced and ultra accurate out to 100yds.

gun control nuts. listen . so the people that fallow the law turn there guns in. great. now mr bad guy does not listen to the law . who has the power now ? now use your brain who has the highest crime rate in usa and who has the lowest, look into it. before you talk. I bet you will be very surprised . what state is the highest . I think one reason my state mi allows concealed gun permits. because they are laying off almost every cop. with out or guns it would be insane here,

i can show you a real true authentic one in person if it will help you "believe" in them.

i take that back.... i'm too lazy.

i just want to add that i like my odds a lot better today than i do in a society where all gun owners are criminals.

But any who, if anyone tries to take our guns away, there will be a red dawn a coming.

Yes, it is .22 cal and I have a .25 cal barrel for it as well, but a friend has it on his right now doing some vermin control at a pig farm. Next time I see him, I will take a pic of his 9mm air rifle, he has dropped deer at 100yds in their tracks with it and quite a few hogs as well. I offered him $1.5k for it and he was like...uuummmm...no....lol

Only air rifle I have is a Gamo .177 big cat. It's an awesome accurate rifle. Only thing I have used it for currently is for bird and squirrel control around my step dads garden. I had to zero it in for a 40 degree angle, but after that, squirrels wont go no where near them tomatos.

I made a silencer for mine out of pvc pipe. It isn't the best silencer, but it works.
Sweet, I have a Big Cat also, I keep it at the lake house for vermin control. Yea, the wifey has a lot of bird feeders and she puts food out for the squirrels, but if I catch one gnawing on a feeder, it is lights out for sure. I like squirrels, just as long as they don't get destructive, if they do, then I do....lol

simple answer is NO.
Because

- Criminals will still have a variety of weapons, guns, knives, bombs etc.
- GOV becomes big brother in total control and becomes public enemy No 1
- Infringes on the rights of the innocent without cause.

Prevent access to guns of any sort by criminals, terrorists or psychologically unstable dangerous people seems reasonable.

I am pretty sure Diane Feinstein would disapprove of your use of an ASSAULT rifle to murder those cute little squirrels.

I didn't use to have a problem with squirrels, but it seems like the more and more I go hunting them little assholes piss me off more and more. I think it all started while sitting in the woods having my back rested against a tree, and I start hearing what is sound like a deer walking slowly in my direction, look over and its a damn squirrel hopping strategically. Next, that noise they make when they are freaked out by something. Gahhh... Last year I wasn't having any luck in the woods and it was getting late and a squirrel kept chirping and flicking its tail at me, so I raised my Rossi .223 took aim and turned that fucker into soup. My step dad nailed one to a tree last year with his crossbow.

Wait, isn't the same woman that thought you could fire "clips" through your gun, so she believed that if she put a limit on them they would run out?

Edit: A pellet rifle as an assault rifle. Priceless

Nope, that is a different Democratic congresswoman, but obviously an "expert" on weapons. I forget her name, I think she is from Colorado.

You really should read the entire article if you have not already done so. If you believe in the constitution and that 2A means what it says, there really is no compromise possible.

Here is the only compromise I will consider. If you want to ban guns then mount a campaign to revoke 2A. If you can accomplish that, I will consider your argument to be valid.

I refuse to read any article that talks about banning firearms. I read down to the part where they were talking about small concealable firearms. Screw that shit, people are stupid. I went and bought a inside the waistband holster for my px4 the other day because I like for it to be completely concealed where no one knows I have it. Its amusing to me that they mention criminals in the article, and no matter how hard you try, you cannot explain to people that criminals don't care about laws.

Every State in the U.S. with strict gun control has a huge problem with gun violence.

This isnt start tre or hg wells, or Ray bradburry here, there is no way to get ALL the guns, the criminals who dont care about the law will still have them and the rest of us will be defenseless.

Again look to europe and Australia every African nation with gun laws has always been a hot bed.

Taking guns away from law abiding citizens only makes them that much more helpless.
