Show Me What You Got LST?

Nothing like starting the new year by harvesting!

Attached are my pics - sorry for the quantity, but there are 9 plants. I decided to use Subcools harvesting method of taking the mature buds, then giving the stuff that is lower down an extra 2 weeks or so to mature-up some. So I only harvested about 75% of each plant. I forgot to take a photo of the roomshowing what I left behind after harvest, but I will try to do that tonight.

No idea how much I will get, but I am guessing 14 ounces or so.

I just did a post on my Bonsai LST technique, you can read it HERE if you want more info. Here are my girls, the front two are about 3 weeks out for harvest. Both are Purple Diesel.

I love this thread.

Nice grow. Looks like you hang your buds in a similar place to where I hang mine. Mine is much darker, though.

Nice work Mark30g. My first time, too. You should try taking some pictures from a little further back so we can see the structure a little better (just a suggestion).

Yeah will do thanks for the heads up, I could not figure out how to do macro shots but all sorted I'll post some as there half way thru flowering.

Here is a couple pics of the next few girls who i will be putting into the tent. I cant help myself when it comes to lst, I do it to all the plants I have.

Little bit of wire to hold em down and they love it!

final wrap-up with cured buds.
11ouncs total dried from 9 plants crammed under (1) 600 watt HPS. My weigh-out was a bit disappointing, but I am confident that with a few tweaks I will do better with my new grow. My main tweaks will be from using recycled soil to a 50/50 mix of happy frog and ocean forest with 25% perlite. I also plan on vegging for 8 weeks and insetad of cramming 9 plants under my light, I will only do 5 plants and give them room to do their thing. I just picked up (2) purple Kush, (2) TGA Ace of spades and (1) TGA CHeese Quake - all very healthy clones.

I got 1.3 ounces from each purple arrow clone; 1.5 from my og kush and the rest from my heavy duty fruity. Very happy with the purple arrow, which smells delicious, is powerful, but mellow and doesn't make me spooked-out like some other weed. The OG kush doesn't look that great, but smells wonderful and is super dense (haven't given it a good try yet). The HDF is always powerful, but the yields were not great (they are supposed to be).

Anyhow thanks for watching and I will post my next grow here as well, but in it's own thread. And I am sold on LST!hdf1.jpghdf2.jpgogk1.jpg

the buds look great man. enjoy the fruits of your labor.
also the yeild was not bad but i thin kif you did a few less plants under the 600 you might get more as each plant can use more light. my last grow i got about 4 ounces off each of my 2 plants under 1 600.
id grow no more then 6 plants under 1 600

Thanks for the tip. With your 600 watt setup did you have CO2?

This grow was more than my previous grows and I am happy and the buds are beautiful; I was just expecting more as I spent about $250 upgrading with 8" exhaust fan, ducting, etc. I screwed up using old soil though. Really dumb on my part. Although it seems counter-intuitive to me, I am planning going with the fewer plants idea and I will veg longer and really working on the structure via LST.

You will find that fewer plants will probably increase your yield. I also run too many large plants under a single 600 and the penetration suffers from the density of the canopy. Its fine by me, but I could stand to stuff a bit less in there lol. Those buds look just fine, I'm sure they get you ripped right out!

thanks for the feedback. Almost everyone I ask tells me fewer plants will equal larger yields. Seems weird, but I have heard it enough times that I am trying it now. I really like having variety which is part of why I have always done so many, plus it just seemed that more plants would equal more yield. I can't imagine only doing 2 plants, but maybe 5 this time (3 diff strains) will be a nice balance. I can already see that with fewer pots in the closet how much more room I will have to let the branches spread out -- that has me optimistic. plus the TGA stuff has me pumped as well.

I totally relate to that! I have waaaaay too many strains in a perpetual... Constantly transplanting, cloning moving. I end up with a flowering bottleneck and nearly always over veg my plants. Ends up being a little crowded in there lol. Best of luck!

im doing great man, and so is the fam.
thanks for asking.

i ran a very cheap setup, nothing fancy at all just a 600 watt light, a closet, some house fans and thats about it man.
my 1st few grows i had really nice grow gear, like my light, fans and a room and then realized it wasnt needed to grow alot of good bud.

i truly think if you had less plants ( not alot less) that you would increase yield.
