Showing off my first girl

Ok, here's a quick shot of the light fixture in my homemade box. It's pretty handy, as all those mounts swivel and tilt, so when you start adding y-adaptors you can get a nice little matrix of movable lights going. This has helped me keep lights really close to the plant, which I LST'd for practice, space limitations, and because I knew CFLs won't penetrate a canopy.

I rigged up 12-ounce soda can reflectors from an idea I saw online (probably here). They save a LOT of spilled light, and really helped those 26-watters to be worth a crap. Those bulbs will be retired from growing (which they are barely good enough for) in the next day or two. replaced by 42's. That's just a backup thermometer seen hanging from the lights; I have another one that's digital and displays relative humidity, too.
nice little arrangement you've set up. My cab is full of 26w and it seems to do the trick. I had a few 42w in there but it got too hot. I like the soda can reflectors too, I might have to steal that idea.:weed:

No way man I don't wanna die having sex, I almost did a few years ago. Was enjoying some us time with my wife, she was 25 at the time and I was 37 well next thing you know I couldn't catch my breath and started to hurt real bad in my chest I tryed to push my wife over to one side so I could straight collapse and she is looking up at me all funny asking me whats wrong whats wrong, I'm like M-ov-e- o-u-t the w-a-y. Layed there trying to catch my breath it was like impossible I hurt so bad. Next day went to the Dr. He got x rays of my chest and pointed to a spot and said OOOO, I was like Oh shit Cancer! Nah it was a Blood clot, went from my leg through my heart and into my lung while doing the deed. I almost died 3 times in the next 7 days. It was a horrible experience.
Well that's a story that will make you think twice about those flys.

Yeah it was a crazy 11 days. After that I could walk to bathroom without haveing to sit down and catch my breath. And because I had no insurance the Drs sent me home with a HUGE ass Needle and a Plunger of meds in it (4) and told my wife to inject into my stomach when I get real bad. I almost died several times in my home with no isurance.
My Brother in law had a clot in his right arm, they put him in the Hosp for 10 days, he has insurance.

As I just posted in the indoor growing forum, somehow yesterday I fucked up and hit the switch on my timer over to ON instead of TIMER, which I did not notice until 5.5 hours after time for lights out.

Bottom line - Charlene and her no-gender-showing sibling got 17.5 hours of light yesterday and 6.5 hours dark. I started the flowering on the 12th with a 36-hour dark period that ended the morning of the 14th, and have been on 12/12 since.

I hope I didn't just shock Charlene into hermiehood. I really don't care about the other plant. It's a scraggly grower that is a pain in my ass, and I'm tempted to go ahead and toss it so it's one less thing to worry about.

I already have two clones off Charlene anyway. Speaking of which, I also managed to knock a clone over yesterday, spilling it all over the fucking place. At least I got to see it had a good root ball going...:?

Clone seems ok, but it was not a good day for my plants yesterday.

Here are the clones, chillin' under CFLs. They were put into cups 5 days ago after being rooted in peat pellets. The one in the front is the victim of being knocked over by my clumsy ass. She seems nice and perky this morning, though, even after losing some roots in the spill. I re-cupped her fast with a small drink of water.

I decided that spending more money on CFLs would be a waste, so I took the plunge and ordered a 400w HPS. I don't see the point in spending almost as much on CFLs which I have to rig up sockets and y adaptors for, and which will have their ballasts pumping out heat right there in the box and giving me 1/10th the lumens and no penetration.

I might have to rework my grow area for better ventilation, but it's worth it. And I really don't think the remote-ballast HPS will put out much more heat (if any) than 8 or 10 42-watt CFLs would.

If I can, I'll try to supplement it with some CFLs or tubes to get some blue light into the mix, but I'm not that worried about that for now, especially in flowering.

Charlene's sibling has suprised me and shown female! She is now officially named Betty and will be repotted to a larger pot with the next watering, now that I know she's a she. The first attached pic is of the two of them.

Both of those got watered with molasses two days ago at 2 Tablespoons per gallon, with no nutes. I got some Orchid Bloom food to start them on with the next water. Pics of it below.

I also tossed in another pic of the clones, BOTH OF WHICH have now been knocked over, the taller of them TWICE. I've never knocked over a potted plant in my life until the last few days. From now on I'm using shorter, square pots for seedlings or some kind of tray. I'm not spilling another plant. Luckily these girls had already made big rootballs. I'm thinking of turning one of them into a mother.

I tossed in some pics to show my LST job from the side and underneath. Only the main stem is really thickened up, because I started flowering as soon as I filled up the pot, after only about 6 weeks veg.

I know I've left more fan leaves and undergrowth than a lot of people like, but I'm trying to leave as much healthy plant as I can, just removing leaves that touch the soil or have to grow up from the underside of a stem. When I LST'd Betty, I took off way too many fan leaves and shocked the plant - she didn't grow much for a couple weeks, and didn't show sex until a month after her sister in exact same conditions otherwise.

Thirty days into flowering.

The ladies have been under the 400w HPS for a week now, and I've been using molasses and the bloom nutes (up to about 1800 ppm now) on alternating waterings. Things are definitely kicking into gear on the flowering. I took some pics today while they were getting a few hours of quality UVb time from some good old no-glass-filtration sunlight.

The first two pics are Betty, the stunted, late-developing sister whose LST was abandoned because I was sure she was a he. So, she looks weird and won't yield as much as her sister, but she's still a keeper.

The last 4 pics are Charlene, getting very bushy and flowery. Being the noob I am, I failed at keeping her canopy even, and the big stems are too thick and woody to LST now. So she has three main colas that are getting pretty fat, and about 5 or 6 lesser colas that are trying to keep up, and probably that many minor, low budsites as well.

The three big colas look like they might get pretty impressive over the next month or so.
