Shroom strain question.

Is there a big difference between strains? I've seen a things that say there is and then things that say there isn't. Of course any strain or vendor suggestions would be appreciated.:bigjoint:

not really in cubensis... except a few eceptions...p.e. because of looks, and cambodians, and pesa they say is real potent, ive never grown them two so i couldnt tell you. it can be a crapshot useing multi spore inocculation, its much better to isolate better mycellium from more potent phenos.....yes mushrooms express different phenos to.

Thanks. I'm looking at doing a PF tek grow as this will be my first. I think you've mentioned sporeworks in another thread. I guess I'm gonna order from them. They seem to have a pretty good record.

frankly i wouldnt see much of a difference, im not a shroom kinda guy but most people in my area dont really care too much about the strain, they just eat bottom line shit and would never pay more for a good strain, cuz most poeple dont treat shrooms and weed the same way, i would just go with b+ cuz those are huge fuckers

Cubensis is the 'strain' the differences between unmutated cubensis is nominal and I fail to see any major differences.

Penis envy is an exception, it is a mutant cubensis that consistently provides different results then normal cubensis. RogerRabbit feels that penis envy almost deserves it's own strain. It grows for longer, requires cooler temps and over all can be more potent generally. Other then that they are all the same pretty much, I have heard of people getting extremely large yields with equador mushrooms.

Penis envy generally does not drop spores which is one possibility to attribute to its increased potency. Unlike cannabis yet like cannabis mushrooms potency varies entirely dependent on genetics.

Worry about trying to produce the largest crop possible and potency will take care of yourself. If you are looking for consistent results clone your mushroom bodies to reduce the ammount of genetic variation from within the mushroom mass. All cloned mushrooms should result in identical potency throughout the crop.

Amongst cubensis there is very little difference. I've only grown (and in fact eaten) three different cultures; one was cambodian, one was amazonian and the other I'm not completely sure on. From my opinion, the biggest difference is the growing characteristics, size, temperature threshold and so forth. Potency (at least from my experience) seems negligiable.

If you're interested in more potent shrooms, you can always try psilocybe semilanceata (liberty caps) or psilocybe cyanescens (spelling?).

According to a chart on Erowid, cubensis shrooms are basically smack dab in the middle of potency when compared to other psilocybin-bearing magic mushrooms.

I don't think anyone has found a good way of producing liberty caps in a indoor enviroment. And cyanescens are a bit difficult to cultivate for a beginner.

If you are looking to cultivate cut your teeth on cubes.

Unlike different strains of pot different strains of mushroom are infact still all the same strain. They have the SAME growth parameters and the only difference is slight differences in average growth patterns of fruit.

78 degrees farenheit, 99% humidity, fanning. If you maintain these three things with the fanning happening 2-5 times a day you will have mushrooms and big ones.

Use the PF tek, the potency of a mushroom is entirely genetic and has NOTHING to do with its environment really. They can reach a biomass efficiency of 300%.

So with a PF tek done just right with perfect fruiting conditions you could return 30% of your initial media weight.

If you are getting cubensis there are two or three kinds that I would recognize. There are thai, there are south american and there are mutants like penis envy.

Once you have successfully cultivated a cube, then you might want to move onto penis envy or one of the easier cyan or of you have balls azure.

Blue meanies (not cubensis) are up to 100x the strength by weight of a cubensis.

as for vendor, I can only speak for sporebank.com... only ordered from them once, but had no problems and arrived quickly... they even threw in a free pack of opium poppy seeds (blue tasmanian i believe).... i have ordered from a different site for a friend in GA, but dont remember what site it was...

strain.... a cube is a cube is a cube;-)... once you get growing cubes down, and understand the species a bit more, then you can move on to cyans or azures...

i failed miserably at the indoor shroom growing; mostly due to trying to half-ass everything... you can do that growing pot indoors, but not mushrooms... i will be giving it another go in the near future, but i'll have to amass a new spore collection..... gave away 5syringes and 2prints recently:-|... it was a damn good trade though:weed:
