Shrooms For Dummies

First Id like to say thanks to everyone for dedicating your time to help others by posting all the great info on this forum. CaptainCaveman was the one that put me on to some of these great threads on here where I have researched and studied other members methods and techniques such as 420God, Canndo, Choempi, timeismoney1, Darth and other great members I did not mention.

I am a cannabis grower and activist but I do enjoy me some RC's every once and a while with the wife and buddies. I have no experience growing and the knowledge I do have has come from this forum and a few links caveman gave me. I am still not decided if I want to go with BRF or Grain. I have heard different opinions and have seen different end results with both.

What I would like to know is how are you growing your mushies and what would you recomend for a beginner? I am a fast learner but I have alot of things going on right now with my crops and my dogs I dont have much time left to slave myself with something else. I am looking for something effective and low maintanence that will give me a good yield. I am alos considering the beds as I want to yield at least a half a pound to a pound every month.

Any info or advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Super easy, just innoculate and grow. Perfect for beginners. Each bag will yield a pretty good amount as well. I got two bags of Penis Envy going right now.

Im doin the BRF and verm mix from the lets grow mushrooms videos. Super easy and its working lol. This is my first grow and i havnt had really any trouble setting anything up or getting any equipment or spores. I got some alacabenzi and ban thurians (BT's) and there both the best outta the 4 strains i got. The BT's r really kickin ass

I came across this site here and was wondering if any of this stuff was worth buying. Check out these incubators and jars that already have the steralized rye in them ready to innoculate.

What do you guys think about the incubator? Would you guys consider purchasing pasturized substrate jars or should I not even bother and make my own? I kind of like that little incubator but I can probably make a bigger one for even cheaper. How much do you think I can yield in one of those?

Use B+, make everything yourself and practice sterile technique until you get it right. Get to the point where you can "see" contaminants in the air, on your hands, on your clothes - do that and you can't help but be sucessful.

I am looking into the B+ the Burmas the golden teachers and the cambodians. I have eaten the B+'s and the Burmas and have heard great things about the golden teachers. One of my best trips was off some huge shrooms with bad ass big golden caps that looked fake its hard to explain like they shined almost looked like a metallic and a pearl type color. Anyone know what I am talking about?

Thanks for stopping by Timeismoney1 glad to you along for the ride.I am leaning toward the organic rye berries tek. Dont know much about the popcorn tek. I will be ordering my spores sometime next week just trying to make up my mind on which to order.

My advice is to read a ton, its really easy honestly just need to be extremely sterile. I run golden teachers in wild bird seed, and fruit in zombie tubs almost no work you clean and clean and then sit around and watch the fruits grow pretty much lol. I'm doing BRF tek from the let's grow vids. Easy. I knocked up 12 1/2 pint canning jars. 4 each of PC classic, Hawaii and Ecuador on Jan 6. All but 1 have started with several probably just a couple days from full colonization. The Ecuador by far the ropiest rhizos. Followed by Hawaii and classic. All the reading and vids scare the crap out of you with contamination stuff so I was crazy with sterilization (melted my first syringe) and used a whole can of oust in the glovebox. No contamination. It fun to watch them every day. I away over nocked a few jars-- using 10 mLs on just 4 jars. They're doing fine. The 1 mL per jar ones are really slow. Can't wait to fruit them and trip balls.

Beware! if you buy popcorn in bulk, you may see that there is an unacceptable number of truely horrendous kernels in there, they are covered with some sort of black mold, it is so bad that it can ruin your run as it seems to put spores of this black stuff in the air and your autoclave time has to be increased. I don't eat popcorn at the movies or at fairs and such because I am worried that there might be contaminated kernels in there. Other than that, when done properly, popcorn is the cheapest and most dependable of the whole grain techs that I have found.

Thanks for all your replies guys. I am convinced I am going with the Organic Rye Berries. I dont wanna risk it on my first run with these little guys. Once I get my feet wet them I will start to mess around with other teks. I should be placing my order sometime next week and will let you guys know what I finally ordered.

Best suggestion to anyone new is follow your TEK and don't stray, not in the beggining anyways.
Also read, read, read, and if in doubt clean it again lol

Nothing really stopping me. I've just got 2 qt jars filled to the top with shrooms and dont really need anymore right now. I dont even now if the last syringes I made are still viable. Anyone know how long they last?
