Shrooms growkit

I recently bought a mush grow kit from an on-line vendor... yeah, they work but the supplies they give are usually not adequate. With the one I got from Midwest grow kits, the lights sucked, there wasn't enough perlite for adequate humidity, the jars were old and had trouble colonizing. I used the Golden Teacher strain, which has a history of being a slow colonizer, but it's been about a month and the bottoms are still growing.. after being flipped over. I ended up just using what I could from the kit and bought the rest. Check out www.shroomery.org. Run some searches and screw the kits. I pissed away almost $200 in kit supplies because I wanted to take the easy route... then basically had to startover from scratch. The PF tek and shotgun terrarium is all you need. Instead of using brown rice flour and verm in your jars, check out some teks on wild bird seed or rye berries. I bought a shitload of brown rice to grind but when that's gone, I'll be doing the wbs. Also, you don't need a humidifier or air pump to circulate air. The shotgun terrarium tek takes care of it all for real cheap. Good luck man.

Ha! Dude - that's exactly what I did a month ago! Don't do it... Check out www.shroomery.org... search for the PF tek or a wbs (wild bird seed) tek and the shotgun terrarium. That's all you need. I ended up basically scrapping my kit and building a new one from scratch. You don't need a air pump, humidifier, etc. The shotgun tek takes care of that. The lights they give suck - get a cfl 6500K off ebay (appx. $6-7) and a shop light fixture from walmart for like $6. I did the golden teachers too and they're just finishing colonizing now... after a month. GT's are slow colonizers and from what I hear, produce larger than normal fruits, but in smaller flushes... Basically, it's a wash. Try the z strain. Wicked quick to colonize (ran circles around my golden's) and fruit pretty well. I get my spores from sporefarmer.com. Just be sure to sterilize and shake the syringes. Good luck man!

Ok cool. i just checked out the shotgun terrarium way, real fuckin easy and pretty idiot proof to build and maintain. Now my next question is should i buy substrate jars/spawn bags or make my own 1pint substrate jars. My only worry is that ill somehow contaminate my jars while doing it myself and end up wasting my time and money, when i could buy really cheap already sterilized medium for them. so i guess my question is are there Quality substrate jars/spawn bags out there that can be trusted and if not should i try make my own BRV jars or some other medium. if some one could shed some light on the subject that would be nice thanks.

You guys are still making far too much out of growing these things, shotgun terrariums? Lights? whaaa? Why you want to go through all that for a couple ounces of fruit?

Then they'll have the complete set-up for their next grow. They have 1 grow under their belt, and they have a decent little stash of shrooms to enjoy while they are waiting for their second grow.

Then what do you suggest?

I gave a discription for a down and dirty grow that doesn't use fanning, fans, lights, terrariums, pumps, pearlite or the like and it works pretty well. Well enough for anyone who wants up to a lb of dried product.

I think a grow kit would be a good starter

I started off on pf tek and was confused as hell even though i read for months on it. But my kit did not come with spawn. So some bulk spawn should be bought if yours is not included. Coco coir or hpoo and verm

i saw that video. and it was really informative but i was still interested in seeing if anybody knew about the pre- set up kits and if they where worth the cash to avoid havin to drill holes, go out and buy jars and all the other stuff separately rather than a all-in-one kit??

if u want to go the easy one time deal route, get pre-sterilized substraite jars from mushbox.com

if you want to do this for the long haul, then get yourself a pressure cooker, and do everything yourself.

(if you have to keep buying pre-sterilized jars, the pressure cooker would be cheaper, if your gonna just do it once, the pre-sterilized jars may be cheaper)
