Significant amount of tiny bugs in Uncle Jims ewc's. Are they good bugs?

Hey hows it going. I've tried doing searches, but havent come up with much. I got a bag of Uncle Jim's ewc's a couple weeks ago. Have kept them in a cool/dark area of the house. Got them out yesterday to dress some of my pepper and tomato plants, and there were thousands of tiny white bugs (mites?), And hundreds of very small brown bugs. The white bugs moved kind of slow, but the brown ones moved at a decent pace, not super fast. Are they harmful to plants, or are they just part of a living soil?
I took the whole bag outside until I can get an idea of what they are. Anybody had a similar experience with ewc's?20200428_184044.jpg

Lol, I spread it out on some plywood and let it dry out for a couple weeks. Just gonna make some ewc tea out of it, definitely not releasing whatever they are into my cabinet :eyesmoke:

Earthworm Mites, don’t hurt worms but they eat same foods, heavy infestation is an indicator that moisture is too too high.

Thanks for the info hillbilly, the ewc's were practically dripping wet when they arrived. Would explain the abundance of them. Picked up a bag of ewc's from TSC for half the price, triple the amount, and looked/felt much better. Live and learn
