Silica Gel Dehumidifiers

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding the performance and usefullness of silica gel based dehumidifying products. Apparently - acording to the eBay seller - 40g of this compound can " protect " a 3 cubic foot space against humidity. With such precision I would like to have your expert advice on how much 40g units should be used in an hypothetical 12 sq. ft. area by 6 ft. ( i.e : 72 cubic foot ).

:!: I know it depends on multiple factors, just keep it " rule of thumb " simple. Don't ask me about ventilation, bulb type and intensity, etc. :!:

Thank you very much,
