Yes, id think theyd need light to atleast no which direction to grow.
But you can germinate them until they have a real long tap root pretty much anywhere moist and dark, they wont really grow without light thou.

you shouldnt even have planted them if your asking something like this!!! ....ok first remove the fucking seran wrap idk what the hell your doing there....now get a compact flouro over them a few inches off until the sprout..keep em moist DO NOT let seedlings dry out then when they are around 6-8 inches plant them into their final pot. i only run flouros through veg makes no sense to run anything else and keep em real close only a couple inches off as soon as the seedling is standing and nice and green. since for some reason you didnt fill the cup with dirt all the way make sure your keeping the light nice and close account for the recessed space and next time fill it nearly to the top....you will have to repot when that is like 4 inches since you put it in barely any dirt....

now that you have already planted the seed dont go trying to add dirt your seedling will take a week to sprout and use all its energy and will likely be nice and yellow...

FWIW I jus germinated my seeds in there medium. Put them under a 400w light about 3 feet up and done. Kept the top medium moist with a squirt bottle and 2 days later i got sprouts.

does that stand for sir killing killowatts?? lol.. running a hps over a seedling is a. a waste of electricity and money but more importantly to me is b. you dont get as nice tight nodes doing that.......nothing beats a nice close compact flouro for the beginning of a plants life....hence the "nursery" stage at any greenhouse in the world
