Simple Cloning Question

I did some reading in the grow F.A.G. about cloning with the water/cup method thing. And I was wondering were to make the cut, if I should cut off that whole branch and do it?

Cut off the lowest branch on the plant. Ya want to cut off a few because ya may fail before ya get it down. If ya are low on females ya could practice on males first. Just make sure ya have atleast 1 node under the medium.

Yes........ Ya need branches to grow there and then those branches ya cut for clones. Bend the top of the plant down then they will branch.

So i should literally bend the entire plant? And when its time to clone, cause the plant hasn't flowered yet, but you do it after it flowers right?

Take the very top of the plant and bend it half way down and fasten with a bread twister. It will grow branches at the nodes. Ya want to take clones before ya flower.

I would just grow your plants get some weed and learn whats up and then try cloneing on the next grow. Stick with the easy shit first. Ya cant do it all on your first grow. bro

I am relatively new to growing, and have yet to clone, planning on it- but I have done extensive research on this site and others, my understanding is that you cut the whole branch above the 2nd or third node... So you have to wait until your plant is tall enough/has enough shoots to do it- or it will stress it. You cut the whole limb, and then you can remove the off shoots of that limb if you prefer- leaving only a couple of leafs on it- this concentrates the energy on forming roots- rather than growing leaves. You can also cut half the leaves off- so they dont come to a point- cut them like half way- it will look like a goofy octagon leaf- this will keep the water from being wasted by going to the tips of the plants.

Clones are demanding though. They need between 95% and 100% humidity- they must be constantly sprayed down in their ventilated dome- because they dont have roots, they dont take water through the soil.

One tip and trick about cutting is, cut at a 45% angle- increases surface area for the rooting hormone to stimulate root growth, and also cut notches into the stem where it will be placed in dirt- these notches will increase surface area as well-. Also the grow medium- be it hydro or soil, needs to be warmer than the air to encourage the roots to spread into the soil or medium. This warming of the grow medium can be accomplished by simply putting a heated blanket under the soil or pots. Another way is to build a separate box with light bulb inside to heat the bottom of the plants- but i have heard good things bout the electric blanket.

Best of luck- hope my newb to newb advice helps.

Thank You very much, you have no idea how big a compliment that is... I am becoming fascinated with this world, this science, of growing. I cannot remember another hobby that has introduced me to such growth in knowledge in such a short timespan. I compare it to learning to read Shakespeare, started having to read the lines multiple times and still being confused, to learning the refined masterpieces and memorizing their beauty. Truly deep stuff, and fascinating to feel both my plants and my mind growing at such a rapid rate!
