Simple watering question, drain or not to drain

Hey there growers, just a quick question and you would think there is an obvious answer, but 2 people I have spoken to about it have totally different views, so i figure I would ask you guys. When I am watering and do 20%-30% run off (flowering) do i remove the water that has accumulated in the tray or let the plant soak it back up through the holes in the bottom of my 10 gallon pot?

Thanks everyone!

remove that water!!!

one of the major reasons to water/feed until you see 20-30% runoff is to prevent the salts in the nutrients from building up in your medium and causing your plant(s) to go into "lockout"... If you rinse away those salts with your runoff, why would you let your plant(s) soak it back up?

haha thats exactly what i thought and argued my point with the guy. The guy who told me this was actually the owner of a grow supply store

Store owners are some of the worst places to get advice... unless you know and trust them. Basically, their job is to sell, sell, sell. If you go into lockout and your plant(s) take a turn for the worse, where are you gonna go to try and get something to correct the situation? the grow store, and then he gets to sell you some more stuff.
Perfect example... when I was starting out a few years ago, I went to the closest grow store I could find. The guy seemed nice and knowledgeable... When I started seeing problems in my DWC set-up, he sold me on 3 seperate products to correct the issue. Needless to say I spent the money and went home and tried everything... Not that his suggestions were incorrect, but I could've solved my problems with simple hydrogen peroxide and by adding a third airstone, which is about a quarter of the cost of what he sold me.
He did his job and got my money in the cash register.
