Well, math says 4ftx4ftx2ft=32 cubic feet. How many gallons are in a cubic foot... And you'll have your answer. I could convert it for you but I'm lazy. Google "conversion gallon cubic foot"i was wondering, if building a 4x4 frame large enough to house 16 5gallons, and using it as a flood and drain. how large a res would you need?
On the other hand, 5 gal buckets are a bit overkill in my opinion for a flood and drain. 1.5 gal pots work well.
Hydro is different.
I'm going to try out some DWC buckets, I know them as bubble buckets.
It's just a lid with a net pot in the middle, that you put on a 5gal bucket, add an airstone in the bottom, fill with water, and put some expanded clay in the net pot. Bubbling water it all, the roots grow in the water. I've seen some impressive results using this method, better than a drip setup in my opinion.
