Skinny stems ?

Hello, i have grown once before and it was a 3 plant set up. they did not mature very quickly at all, but they had SUPER skinny stems very flimsy and it was not a good thing cause i would have to use popsicle sticks to hold them up, they grew to about 6-8 inches and then they got trampled when i placed them outside. I used the sun as my lighting they were sitting in my window. So i wanted to know if that is a problem or if its just because of how little time they had i left them out for about 3-4 weeks. I dont want to buy new seeds unless im 100% sure there gonna be a strong plant.

U can START 3 plants in doors for under $10 worth of CFLs. Just make sure they are 26w 6500k lights. Make sure they are 1-2 inches from the plant tops. My first grow was very spindly as I kept my light about 12 inches away and CFLs lose it after a cpl inches...

weak stems?

you need fans to get the air moving around.. (circulating). It really aid's the plant, when its in its first few weeks of life.. to help build up its strength and therefore makes the stem look bigger. But, usually.. the stem gets bigger with age alone too. But the fans do help.. and play a vital role in helping the plant gain its strength.

So, if you have no fans.. get some.

It also helps if you have a fan gently blowing across the canopy. The light breeze will help encourage stronger stems. Sounds like what your problem mostly was though was stretching due to inadequate light.

not enough light, buy cfls and y-splitters. Can get a solid ass grow without spending more than 20 bux on lighting....
