Skipping to cure? Is it Possible?

Is there anyway you can skip the first drying part and go to a cure/dry in mason jars with those silcia drying packets that are in beef jerky things and other stuff... because drying has now become a problem where i live and isn't easy to find a place to do it.... but if i put it in jars and put plenty of those packets in the jars would they do enough moisture sucking to dry the buds and start the cure.... or would it become a moisture mess
also do those silicia packets or whatever they are called cause damage of anykind like to taste or smelll... i know they dont hurt the jerky or whatever else they are packed...sooo any answers would help.... and if anyone has tried this before tell me what you thought... thanks

I would be worried about mold, a nug is 75% to 80% water, are you worried about the smell?

You would need a lot of silica to do that, and I would not recommend it. You need to be especially careful about containing all of that moisture, for mold reasons as pointed out.

Make a drying box / rack, in a rubbermaid if you have to, and vent smell outdoors or through a proper filter.

if i used the silcia packets which are made to prevent mold and moisture in dry foods and changed them everyday plus they sell big ones that suck in a lot of moisture and become more like jello when they are full... hopefully that will prevent mold.... and cut the wetness...the smelll huh didnt think to much about that because i would burp the jars out side and let them sit for a little and them close them up with more silcia packets... hopefully the smell can be contained by the airtight jars.... any suggestions that you may have on your mind?

I know its not recommended but would it be possible....

just sorting out my options... the box is the best way to go i understand that but right now i am weighing my safest options...

what is the safest way to dry in the stealthiest way.....????

I wouldn't risk the silica thing. I was asking if you're worried about the smell from hanging the nugs for a few days.

yeah i am worried about the smell do you know any way to stop that without using a fan to pull through a carbon filter....

depending on how much your drying and how stinky it is a can of ona gel would help.

Its not even the drying, when you trim that shit up its going to smell to high heaven. If that dosnt get you caught you should think of just boxing it up and putting a carbon filter in the room. The Silcia idea is iffy at best, they keep dry things dry. Not really meant to chemically dry wet stuff.

i agree with above post, i would not want those chemicals near MY bud...

just get those odor obsorbing gels, they work for me so far, and they are fairly cheap

I think those odor absorbing gels are worse than silica - they contain dozens of essential oils, which I would not want in my bud.

Silica has the same chemical composition as sand and glass. I just don't think it has the power to absorb that much moisture. I remember somebody saying they tried it - either Al B Fuct or Panhead - and it didn't work.

One idea would be the polymer crystals used in soil. They'll pick up a cup of water per tsp, so they have plenty of absorbency. They're also not too expensive.. The only question would be whether they're as efficient at taking moisture from the air as they are from liquid. I'd give it a shot.
