SO!! i know Skunks are Sativas, and almost full blooded Sativa. i know they can take a while to finish. i have a plant of Skunk and she is taking a little longer then expected. which, was expected, but she aint showing no sign of being finished. hardly any trichs. but HUGE FAT gorgeous nugs. i mean the length of my forearm and as thick as my wrist. there is few other huge ass nugs on her, shes hanging low shes so fat, lol!!! i will take some pics next light cycle.

That was news to me (Skunk is sativa), is it true?

Today it's obviously a hybrid, but I was under the impression Skunk was an Afghan Indica-dominant plant (which someone used to select for the Skunk).

im sorry my friend, if it was or had any Indica in it, it would have been done by now, or weeks ago with my other Indica plants.

I'm sorry, was not talking about your plant in particular, I'm talking about what people think about when they hear "Skunk" in general.

I knew Skunk is supposed to have genetics from Afghan (Indica) + Colombia (Sativa?) + Mexico (Sativa?).

The one I ordered was this one (MNS' version): http://www.mrnice.nl/dhtml/strains.php?id=33

And their version of Skunk are more Afghan-dominated.

Sorry I'm just embarrased to be wrong, I guess Skunk has more Sativa in it than I knew :-)
It's just that Skunk is so short flowering compared to Sativas, so I assumed Indica-dom.

Any long-flowering Sativa genes must be "lurking only".
I learned something today.

BTW: Mr.Nice rocks, always been happy with their beans - including "Shit" (their Skunk).

God, I wish there was a global pedigree database fact-only with long history. To end all speculation.

Edit:
I just realized, I've been growing Sativa's the last year, never thought I would have the patience to do Sativas, as I assumed they all had long flowering time :-)

I didn't know that (old school Skunk long flowering time).

http://en.seedfinder.eu/database/strains/

There, you'll find pictures of current Skunk offerings (select "S" and pick one).
I find it interesting that most have so little known history (the link is a database after all).

Example, from Sensi Seeds: "The one, the only Skunk #1. A true breeding strain containing the original Columbian x Mexican x Afghani cross [...] Flowering time 45-50 days"

According to the above database, the longest flowering time was 78 days - most were 9 weekers. But I guess the database it's based on breeder PR too.

Like I said, the community needs a true pedigree database - for all seeds we can buy. No more hype based on names.

Skunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 011.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 004.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 005.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 008.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 010.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 014.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 001.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 002.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 006.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 013.jpgSkunk Plant - Not Finished Yet! 012.jpgwhat im super pist about is i looooooooooooooooove SKUNK!!!! i love it! its my favorite strain ever. i dont what kind it is, i love it. i love the oldschool Mexican Skunk i used to get back in high school. shit rocked. you squish open a nug and the room stunk of a smelly little skunk spraying is stinky juice!!! i love that smell. people think im weird. i suppose its like cheese, everyone has their own preferences. i was reading an article in this months HT, and there is a Road Kill Skunk from about 15-20 years ago, that is very hard to find, its out there, but not in commercial circles. its very rare. well, i doubt my Skunk is that Skunk, but it could be one of the last of the great oldschool Skunks. the seeds i had were at least 10 years old, if not longer. i had like 5, maybe 3 seeds when i germinated them. only 2 popped and 1 was a male. i wanted to grow it outside, but it was tall and lanky, and i don't need the worries or trouble. but damn....i wonder what this skunk is, and what could have been. its def from a old gene pool, but from exactly which one is hard to tell. i finally took some pics of her last night. here is what she looks like. if someone can possibly tell me how long she has left, im having a very difficult time making that decision. she is now in her 10th week, going into week 11, 3 more days will be exactly 11 weeks. the stigmatas are starting to shrivel up a little and change color, but i know that is not the main deciding factor on when to harvest. but her she is, also, i can not take her out of the tent, shes all bondaged up to the frame of the tent, i didn't have support when she started to tilt, she has fallen over one day, it was more funny then aggravating, lol!! still kicking myself in the ass for not keeping the male. i tried to take a few cuttings off it, but my clone making skills are sub par at best, trust me, i tried!!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! i just had a talk with my buddy who gave me these seeds. i have some news that makes me either want to buy him a hooker, or shoot him in the foot!!! so i have heard that he was living in North California at the time he was growing and breeding (well, he wasn't, but his buddy was, and gave him a arsenal of seeds). ok, so he was living in Nor Cal in 1995 and has informed me the Skunk seeds he had at that time were Skunk #1. im freaking out!!!! i had another male of this strain, wanted to keep it so bad, tried to keep a few cuttings from her before i flowered her, and to no avail, they all took a major shit on me. i also just read a nice little mail in message in this months High Times about how the Road Kill Skunk and Skunk #1. he doesn't know about the RKS. but after i explained it to him he def told me that it is a Skunk #1. but some old strains, or phenos of the Skunk #1 had the RKS, i think. i have to re-read the letter the reader submitted. but im freaking out!!! i may have one of the last original Skunk #1's before mass production. its possible!! also, he had given me a grip of seeds, a shit ton. i have 5 packs of seeds from him, only 1 is labeled. i only grew out the ones he knew were Skunk, and some seeds he said that were just some miscellaneous Indica mixes. those plants had some super tasty buds, but no Skunk. he said its very possible there could be more seeds of this Skunk #1. i have a 5AP x Skunk #1. that was the only pack of seeds he gave me that were labeled. so i know i have a bunch of those left. 5 is for fifth generation, A is for Afgany, P is for Pakistan. im sooooooooooostoked right now. its like the coolest thing that has ever happened to me. EVER!!!! even if it is not the RKS, i now know it is a Skunk #1 from 1995!!! the good ol years of strain development! hands down!! so many strains we use today were breed in the mid nineties. im going to celebrate!! with some of my freshly cut harvest!!

***CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW MUCH LONGER I HAVE ON THIS PLANT????***

Ii don't wanna have to start another thread. will it be easy for someone to tell? even though shes in the tent and the HID is glowing right on her...i can not take her out, she is tied up to the frame, lol!!

It looks to me that those tops are ready. Let the bottom half go for another four days with only 10 hours light then subdue her into complete darkness for another 3-5 days.

Yikes, hope OP does not follow this advice. These are not ripe buds. I think OP knows this too. :)

i know they are not ripe, i can tell when i bud is finished, i just need advise, well, cuz im super colorblind. i dont see much frost yet, the calyxes haven't finished forming or even gotten that hard yet, i think she has at least 2-3 weeks. i posted pics to see if i am correct or not. and to see if anyone can confirm that this is the Road Kill Skunk of the mid nineties. its been confirmed it is Skunk #1 from 1995. i man, im sooooo stoked. i smelt her this morning. she smells so great!! when should i start the no nutes waterings??

OH!!!!!!! also, i don't know if i commented on this already, but i may have more of these. i def have more of this as a cross. but ill have to do some "grow digging" to find the,, since none of the beans were labeled, except one pack. lucky me!!!!

Nice plant, It does look like an "old school" strain. Back before everybody bred everything into everything. Your plant reminds me of a Vietnamese dalat. And it's definatly sativa dominant , From what I can see, You have weeks to go, But If it is a TRUE Skunk 1# you could have a goldmine on your hands, Provided you have clones of THIS plant. But yeah it has at least 2 or 3 weeks left in my opinion . and from my experience TRUE sativa s rarely have lots of trichomes , definitely not like what you see on everything today (Hybrids) . I did see a few in the pictures, Try scoping a sample and see how they look. What you have looks true and your story sounds plausible . Send me some seeds, I'm a MMJ CG. :)

FUCK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had a full fledged male, and he looked like a stud!!! i was thinking, "i should keep him, grow him in the backyard or sum'ting" AND I DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so, after talking to my friend there is a chance i may have a few more seeds. i do know i have a cross with this strain, the 5APxSkunk#1 seeds. this Skunk was used in that breeding. so i have a cousin of it, or sister, i don't know how that works, im debating growing all these seeds i have that "could be" in the bunch just to see if there is another one. i'd be able to tell right away by its lengthy growth if it was it or not. plus the extremely long flowering period. man, kicking myself in the ass today!!! much appreciation for the info.
