Skywalker OG, Hempy Bucket Grow, Area-51 LED's

Crap.. it's Friday night and I've wasted an hour trying to upload some really awesome pictures with the lights off and the flash on....RIU does this more and more on weekends....In the interim, please remember the future growers in search of information that will look back on this thread and sift through each individual post to relish the info passed, just like you and I do all the time. Let's keep the threads focus on "Blondes with wings playing huge wooden harps", "Led Zepplin videos without doing Stairway to Heaven" and "Skywaker OG grown under newly developed Area-51- SGS 160's in little 2g hempy buckets of coco and rock-wool". I should reconfirm that fact that these girls are tent dwellers too..."I like to camp".

Day 26, Look Mom! I can do SOG 36" off the ground (LOL). I'm only referring to the trellis at 36" from the tent floor...they are actually 50" above the coco and that's 10" off the floor in these little 2g buckets. Now I'm bonded with this strain...we understand each other now and moving forward is the fun part. I did treat here bad with all the daily super-cropping during the first 3 weeks of 12/12, but thank goodness I can relax about the height and start concentrating on maximizing cola production (time to spoil her with the good stuff). With this number of tops loaded with activity on just 2 plants, I won't have the fattest colas at the party, but a lot of them look like they could actually fill in from base to tip. The frost is appearing at the rate equivalent to an 8-week strain. So here's the plan...load them to the max with carbohydrates for the rest of week 4 and week 5, then start the PK13/14 additions late in week 5 (1 week delayed from my norm). I won't drop back my base nutes during pk13/14 add's since this strain is taking everything I give it and at an increased watering frequency over other strains. Last night I took off all leaves and buds below the screen...my circ fan is pointed almost strait up from the floor, blowing air vertically into the canopy. Next week I''ll move the outlets & timers up and raise the trellis. It original intention after all, was to keep them from falling over without tomato cages and stakes all round. “Gotta keep ‘em separated” to for max light penetration around each cola.

Hmmm, I believe in a free-flow tip-of-consciousness uninhibited stream of information running loose and wild mate. A side-track here and there isn't all that bad.
Plus if you look both me and Mr Duck were really respectful keeping our posts short and VERY direct so it's easy to skip on past.
Overall efficiency is also a topic I feel any grower can benefit from exploring a little. One can't go creating threads for every point of interest you surely understand that?
Best info I've gotten on here were all tiny little nugs spread out over threads aimed at something completely different so I do apologise for my zeal in grabbing them whenever they come along. I have HUGE respect for Mr Duck and when he speaks I really do pay attention, I want to steal all his secrets muahahahahaha.

But, RESPECT, this is your thread bro, I'll just lurk and watch.

Sorry for the thread jack man!
Hammish offtopicness is always welcome in my thread.
Same here....I copped some good Zepplin from Mad...

I'm usually pretty good at picking up remote sarcasm. I hadn't had my coffee yet so I'll blame that!
Another forum I use has an emoticon of two smileys passing a joint that I really wish we had here. I have a feeling if we were all in a room together there'd be as many pieces going around as there are people. Here try this!

They could really use a universal sarcasm font. I am a sarcastic ass most times and it just doesn't translate online very well. The skywalkers are looking great Jela. Looks like they stopped stretching finally, and they have great node spacing. Should fill in great. Peace

Stone ya never been sarcastic to me, a few have :)

Jela, Looking great as usual...how ya doing with the heat in the tent?

I'm really liking the light so far...

Have you ever thought of running the led's as side lighting when you use the HPS? Might be overkill but was a thought.
Stone, good thinking, but I'm not really setup well with this tent to do LED's as secondary side lighting ...I'd have to put them at each end end and I usually fill the tent anyway. I've been contemplating doing a single plant with both panels "canted" at a 45° angle though. I'll bet you could grow a monster like that and a 3.5g bucket.

Hi Who-kie, the temps are hanging around 81° now with my recirc fan repositioned...not prime but that's the ambient temp of the room where the tent is. So my exhaust is doing a good job extracting heat with these panels...it would be in the low 90°'s with my HPS in the summer months. The lights are holding true to Area-51's intent with the 5w technology...lots of penetration. I still can't get over how quite they are...they have some dazzling fans of their own...probably designed for PC's.

Good Weed Jela, your plants are looking great! I have been away a few weeks, but got all my things together and started my own grow. They are not even close to the calibre you have, really great job +reps

Hey did I tell you? The trellis actually keeps the big tent door from flopping inwards and crashing plants...my wife will love that when I'm away...she never can remember to open the door from the bottom zipper first instead of the top one and vice-versa on closure.
Well, better late than never, I suppose. Great grow Jela. I am starting SW Kush.

I wanted to comment on this post because I also found the "tent restraining"
feature of a screen to be useful....well, I actually did it the other way around
which I thought you might find amusing.

I made a frame to hold my tent out....then thought to add a screen to the tent,
more for cola support than for training....then I had a minor brainstorm and
just attached my restraining boards into a square frame, hung it from the
tent corners, and wove a screen onto it.

I ended up with this:
Screen.jpg

Now, I am not going to use this past this grow, as I cannot get to the plants
in the back at all. I am going to either perfect a screen-pre-5-gal-bucket or
will be using the small-forest-of-long-stakes approach.

Take care,

JD

Say JD, thanks for stopping by...that is an awesome job on frame & screen and a great way to adjust its height too. I could see your issue however with the depth of your tent (front to rear) and getting to the plants in back. I didn't know you were a 5g hempy man...you must grow some monsters with that much space and 5g buckets...I've seen some cool trellis's out there atop bigger pots, shaped like a "V' and some like a "U"...but they were SCROG setups not meant for cola support.

Thanks Jela. You do good things. :0)

That is what I am going to need to nail down. I am sure that
some stable method of attaching four vertical rods to a 5 gal bucket
will be all it takes to get started.

I find that rammed down into the soil does not make for a very stable platform.
I am thinking something free-standing, but able to be bound around the bucket.
(i.e. the weight will sit on the ground, through the "feet")

Take care,

JD

P.S. This is my first 5 gallon bucket run, after running a few large 2 gal SOGs.

Good morning to you also jella.

Have to share this. Roy Buchanan The master of the Telecaster. In 1970 he was dubbed the Greatest Guitarist that you've never heard of. Roy was found hanging in a jail cell the morning of Aug 14 1988. Roy is the only guitarist who could cover Hendrix and not make a mockery of it. Here's Roy doing Hey Joe in 1976

Thanks for the RB reminder. It is good to remind the new of those lost.

On the Hendrix note...I would add SRV to that very, very short list:

Watt's, awesome addition to the thread...this is a "deep cut" and unseen by me. This totally makes up for the blondes on harps video doing LZ STH...(LOL)

JD, You'll never believe this, but I lived in Austin between '79 and '86 and watched Stevie on Friday afternoons for free, maybe 6 different weeks, staged on a pasture up against the Colorado River there in town. I was in a group of people that would take off from work early just to attend. I saw him live too on a New Years Eve at "Steam Boat Springs". He was so impressive, we all just looked at each other in disbelieve that he was our "hometown" boy. We never ever thought he would take the "big-time" stage...simply because of his predecessors, Johnny Winter and Jimmy Hendrix which at that time made him look/sound like an "impersonator". You could imagine the home-run we felt when he eventually set the benchmark for blues.....and the downer when his plane crashed.

I would have to put SRV at the top of that list as well. Goddamn could that man play!
Duck, "Goddamn" is spot on..
