A friend just grew a PE and it told him it was done when the main cola snapped off because it was so big!

Those PE's look great, I might have to nab some of those beans...

I wouldn't get my undies in a bunch yet, you still have 3wks. Mine got all frosty before swelling too, the last 3wks was the most substantial in bud growth.

1st day of week 7, I had to raise the screen with these lanky creatures getting heavy up top. It is meant to keep branches from falling over. One of my outlet strips and timer were tied to the tent's corner pole and I had to get in amongst the girls with a bare chest to do some rewiring/positioning so the screen would be unimpeded moving upward. Wow, did I sticky all all over my upper body and arms....and unfortunately "skunky". I did spend a while with some IPA and paper towels getting clean again. Based on the sparse bud spacing on the colas, I went one more feeding of PK13/14 today..I've never used PK in week 6 and never in week 7 but I'm having to read this strain. I also have a lot of spears to deliver energy to. They are plumping up a tad...frostier by the day. The sight under the screen is just weird....

Jela,

I feel for your situation. You have great buds....but have the
suspicion that they might not be optimal.

I wondered this too...in part because I wandered into a fairly
dry watering regimen. (the increase in the rate at which they
eat caught me off guard I think...it explodes with the stretch)

I have been more generous to them and whether this is the
reason or not, they seem to be responding.

I am too new. :0) I am finding that kushes do not make the
solid colas that are so fun, yield-wise.

I expect the smoke to be super though.

Both the Somango and Chem 4 OG are guaranteed to rock!

Take care,

JD

JD, thanks for your sharing your leanings, it's really strange all the hybrids out there and the different growth patterns you see. I haven't had too many issues with kush's other than odor..and I usually stay away from them for that simple matter. Say you mentioned "Somango"....I just grew out a Blimburn "Mango" which had "Somango" as either the mother or father.....what a nice medium build plant with thick cola's. The smoke is super fruity-sweet and the high is gonna have me growing it again one day (for sure!).

LOL, yes, I loved Somango. It ran out first. LOL

It grew into a very beautiful plant too:

...but it does not always grow into one solid cola:

Ya Jela the kushes are notoriously low yielders. The SWOG is supposed to be one of the better ones though. I have heard that if you can give them an extra week it will pay off. She has quite a bit of sativa in her and those usually fill in late in flower. She looks very dense and frosty though I bet her quality will be great.

Edit: Javadog I know I told you before but I love the look of that Somango. Just beautiful!

HH, I've got a couple of G13 "Blue Berry Gum" sprouts very evenly matched at 12days from seed...that will go under the SGS-160's when the SW OG is done. As a sepearte project in a little veg tent, I have an old strain from Nirvana called "Buubbliciious" that I ruled out of motherhood due to severe "edge curl" from birth. It eventually straightened itself out but too late since the BBG is up and going. I'm using the this huge 85W spiral CFL (365W equiv.) in a bat-wing reflector to flower it. Will see how it goes..it's not stretching much at all in it's first week of 12/12.

Thanks for the good word SS.

I can attest to the SWOG difference, so far.

This is Kosher next to Skywalker:

SS, you started ringing a bell there so I went back in my archives looking for pics of kush's I'd grown in the past. You are right, they aren't the biggest producers...funny how I sure was happy at the time. Must of gotten spoiled with other strains as time went by. Here's some snaps of Purple Kush and Bubba Kush I grew from local clones in dirt when I was a total newb.

I grow the clone and will hopefully be growing a lot of the S1s in the nearish future. I'm assuming you have HSO's S1s (at least I assume they're S1s, HSO won't say shit about their genetics other than they come from CA)? I can't stand their business practices but their Blue Dream seems legit. The really sat looking pheno still seems somewhat rare but they all seem good according to the reports I've read.
The only weakness the clone has from what I've seen is that spider mites love her. Some friends have grown the same cut as me and reported that mites left other plants to attack her. Otherwise she takes pretty much everything in stride!

JD, is that the KWOG on left? (the tall one?)
That is Kosher Kush (tall) next to Skywalker Kush ("short" == nice structure!)

Several of the Kushes are behaving themselves. The OG Kush and OG Kush #18
are both very pretty.

I will post individual shots in my Journal.

Take care,

JD

Here a couple of G13 Blue Berry Gum girls just 13 days from seed. I'll be bucketing these up this weekend with hydroton clay balls in the bottom and coco up top. Couldn't ask for a better match from 2 seeds picked from a 5-pack. Usually I sprout more and select the best pair. This is my second run with the G13 breeders . My first was "over the top". My test bucket for the hydroton/coco combo is this Nirvana "Bubblicious" in a 5qt. "Handy Pale" just 1 week into flower. I'm also playing with a 85W 30K CFL (equiv 350W) in a bat-wing reflector. Works out perfect in the 2x2 veg tent, very low heat and high output. This was going to be a mother but was problematic in the beginning..not a good pick.

I really like CFLs for veg. Because my flower space is small I like to try to slow down the girls in veg while still getting tight node spacing and CFLs do that perfectly for me. I'm only using 2 23W bulbs in my tote and even the furthest plants don't really stretch much. I'd say the bulbs are at about the 60/40 of the tub so one side goes a little further, I use that space for keeping mothers and rooting clones because a little stretch on a branch you're going to clone is actually useful and rooting clones don't really need much light.
