Slackjack's Outdoor Extravaganza!

Alright! So this whole grow is/will be a work in progress. I intended to have everything indoors, but its not panning out as hoped and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let a perfectly good outdoor season go to waste! Plus, if the indoor gig comes together i can always clone from my outdoor beauties!

This is my first outdoor grow as well as my first (full) soil grow! The first seeds went into the paper towels Sun 5/17: 8 freebie seeds from attitude. 6 of these went into Rapid Rooter plugs Tues night and one more yest morning. All other dank seeds went into paper towels Tues night. I have a couple hundred schwag seeds, too. I kinda just want to plant them and spread em around town when their big enough!...but I'm getting ahead of myself...

The entire plans for this grow are really entirely up in the air still, and I know I'm gonna be needing lots of advice along the way! At the moment a very trustworthy friend is allowing me the use of their backyard for a grow space. I'll have to setup somekinda fence to keep the dog out, thats no big deal, but their place is maybe a 1/2 acre and the neighbors are very close! The fence is tall enough that I can top the plants and have no issues with sight, but I'm worried about what kinda ranky danky smell a few dozen plants is gonna put out!!! I know of plenty of smelly herbs that thrive in my area, but I just don't know I trust that alone to cover the danks! Which means this grow may be in need of yet another home .....eventually.

The area is another issue, for my seeds anyhow... Since this was originally gonna be an indoor grow, I bought almost all very indica dominant seeds. My area will have atleast 2 or 3 weeks of 100+ degree weather, and plenty of humidity throughout the whole grow. infact, other than my schwag seeds I only have one mostly sativa. But a weed is a weed and I'll make my ladies lives as luxurious as I can! It still is a great benefit to me because that way if they have to go to the country somewhere they wont interfere with deer season too long. My schwag seeds last time i planted them (indoors sadly) took a full 16 weeks to flower...came out decent sensemilla, but not worth your indoor equipments time! at all.

They were starting to stretch in the window sill, so i moved them out in the yard mornin of 5/23. Its been nearly all overcast since then but the fierce stretching has died down. I put 9 more cracked seeds in Rapid Rooters the 21st, 4 on the 22nd, 1 yest, and 2 just a minute ago. 23 seeds so far! Another 16 seeds are taking there time in the paper towels. i found mold on one and chunked it. Of the other 15, 10 are all one pack of White Label Double Gum... im a little disappointed, but try to remind myself to be patient...its been like 5 days.

No new seeds popped probly need to change the towels again

Over the weekend two seedlings shriveled and perished. I'm bummed...they got too dry. On the Greenhouse colored seeds, it kinda seems that the color shit turns into a paste and does some harm to a fresh seedling trying to push the shell off. I helped the few i could, a few more look to sensitive to fuck with.

I need some advice on wether i should transplant a few of these into a small soil containter already (one i can still keep under another humidome). I'm curious if it'll damage the little uns if bury the stem just a little. for two reasons: one a few are some lankster mofos, and two smaller sprouts have the shittiest lookin stem comin out of the Rapid rooter, but then they look alriight higher up... ill just post the pics:

glad to hear you had courage to grow too. i am afirst time grower also and have done some research. your babies look sorta good for a couple of days. except for too much stretching? mine is 4 days old and looking good.
perhaps we could help each other with growing. My plan is also tossed in the air. probably gonna end up growing in the wild.

Good luck growing. oh and don't get impatient! my seeds took like a week to germinate! and my fucker friend stepped on them in acciddent and only 1 survived :'(

could def use some help RIU with whether to transplant the few above. I guess I'm gonna go ahead and hydrate some coco coir, don't know if I'm gonna use it in the mornin or not...

this might be kinda long but let me tell you how i did it...

so i germinated my seeds on monday(think?) and they didn't even pop till friday and i went camping that day. later that day the root was sticking out a little bit. by saturday morning the seed was like cracking and the plant was coming out of it so i got a cut and searched for the best soil i could find while there. by this time there was no seed anymore just a simple baby plant. it was kinda bent like an L because i had it in the napkin for a couple of hours when it wasn't in the seed. after i filled a cup with soil or dirt w.e. i made a itsy bitsy hole for the root go in. and covered it a little. the next day the two tiny tiny leaves showed up!

so you might not wanna transfer your seedling till the fully sprout? i think you might be placing the seedings a bit too early? and just germinate your seeds with a paper towel. it's easier. and when you seedling have grown like 1 inch and you wanna move than don't remove all the dirt from the roots. just around it and place it in the new soil. what i did was plant it a little more deeper so i could have the new sould on top a little.

Transplant them and leave room in the pot to put more soil for support when they get bigger. When you transplant bury it so there's about an inch of the seedling out.

Be careful when you put plants outside too. It may be overcast, but it's a totally different environment for your seedlings.

Well I decided I'd wait on the transplant...if aint broke dont fix it philosophy or something... lol

The lanky ones are really doing well, most are working on tiny little second sets of true leaves. The weak stemmers are doing their job, I'm gonna give them some time to get stronger.

Overall I'm not sure I like rapid rooters for seeds. I did start out paper towel method, but they're confused about being in the hole and getting sunlight and are trying to push cotyledons before making it fully out of the RR... and when i try to give them a hand by lifting the tiny leaves up with a paper clip tip, the whole seedling lifts out. I wish I had a better camera for a more detailed picture. those little ladies seem to be dieing just stuck in the RR but for now I'm just gonna try more patience and see how that goes.

No new seed sprouts. but i did figure out how to upload pics!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I like the ideas and promise to use them, lol, when I get to that point!

they don't that bad except for the stretching. Why don't you just stop using RR is it isn't working for you? I'll show you my Plant of 6 days tonight if you wanna see what a party cup full of soil does lol

I really enjoyed my RR for cloning a year back, but sadly it only looks like 50% of the popped seeds are surviving them! AGH! lol, like you was saying, live and learn. I got some veggie and flower seeds starting in a coir flat right now... only put in a day or two ago, but im really digging the consistancy and water retention so far...

You got a journal for your party cup lady kristen?? If not my threads def got some room for ya! It'll be a few weeks for both of us before they really get into their show off stage!

i have pictures from day 1!!! and as of today she's a week old

she's looking great. i'll update pictures tonight.

Alright the transplant has gone down! They moved into soil pots yesterday.
All coir. I'm gonna start using a couple drops of Superthrive in a gallon of PHed water to start.
The picture of the tray is filled with veggies (day 3?) in all coir: tomato, peppers, watermelon, pumpkin, okra, pole beans, mustard and leafy green mix. (I know i'm startin pretty late for these)

there are a few more to still transplant (hopefully!), they were still pretty small so i left them to do there thing for a while longer.

is it GREAT that a plant has thick huge leaves for a week old?
