Sleep paralysis anyone?

Who's had a sleep paralysis before? Probably many of you but how many of you have seen or heard things out of the ordinary? I haven't seen or heard anything myself but often times people describe seeing and hearing things similar to each other, like a little devil laughing and sitting on their chest or something similar. Is everybody having the same imagination or is there some evil entity doing this when we are most susceptible to it?

"Over the centuries, symptoms of sleep paralysis have been described in many ways and often attributed to an "evil" presence: unseen night demons in ancient times, the old hag in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and alien abductors. Almost every culture throughout history has had stories of shadowy evil creatures that terrify helpless humans at night. People have long sought explanations for this mysterious sleep-time paralysis and the accompanying feelings of terror."

I've read the Webmd article, I dont really believe it though. Its happened to me a few times, maybe 5 or 6 but yes I believe I was laying on my back on all times and was tired. Sometimes it comes and goes within a few secs. Never heard or seen anything however. Me and a buddy were talking about this and it just seems hard to believe that people from different backgrounds with different beliefs have seen this weird demon or heard its laughing and what not. You can see and hear everything clearly in sleep paralysis, but if you hear or see anything out of the ordinary, people say its just your imagination?

That's the point; it's not always a demon. For a long time people saw a Succubus, and then it was blamed on Sea Hags, and in more recent times they see aliens. Why would Sea Hags stop doing and then aliens start doing it? Is it just coincidence that people started seeing aliens around the time UFOs and Sci Fi became popular in the culture?

People have a strange experience and they interpret it with something that makes sense to them, and that something changes with the culture.

I do the toe and finger wiggling also. Maybe it really could be that people are actually just imagining and hearing things that aren't there or doesn't exist. But what makes them see it in the first place? A lack of blood circulation, a tired sleepy state or something else? Some people who have died and came back to life report seeing some strange things and out of body experiences but they can actually prove it.

its untrue sorry to say, people have done studies on children who get terrible sleep paralysis and its whats mentioned at the time thats turned into a rumour like " the devil was there i swear!! ", a bit like when people used to believe in witches and ghosts, the children's imagination runs wild when dreaming let alone awake so they see what they imagine. in other words their imagination comes true.

The devil is a made up character with black horns and red skin, years ago he was seen as black skinned and red horns.

Its whats mentioned at the time which turn into rumours like ' the red devil was sitting on my chest'

Sleep paralysis is when you slightly wake up in a dream but cant figure it out, your brain shuts your body down while it does the figuring out for you, the more you struggle and try the harder it gets to the point of impossible to move or even breath ( red devil on chest feeling ) then u realize the only thing you're battling with is your own thoughts, thinking smarter from the day you realize will end the paralysis .... after all its all your own thoughts which make this happen, no one can think for you but yourself.

see :)

Been having it since I was a kid ... sometimes multiple times in a row that I cant fall back asleep. One time my cousin was sleeping over n I woke him up to help me go back to sleep. I told him to shake me or do whatever when he sees me trying to move but cant. He said ok. I tried to fall back asleep n got another episode .... when it was over and I saw my cousin terrified I asked him what happened and why he didnt do anything. All he said that my face looked scary and he was too scared to touch me! ...... when It happens now I just wait it out ajd let it pass. It only bothers me when I cant fall asleep due to repeated episodes every time I close my eyes ... oh I doubt Ive ever seen anything but right before it happens I wake up feeling presence of someone or somwthing, then quickly im paralized ... cant move and cant scream. An attempt to scream of call of anyone is always met with failure!
