Slight skunky smell in veg?

I have a few plants in 18/6 veg cycle that are less than one foot tall and a little over a month old. They are in a timed drip system in 4"Rockwool with hydroton in 6" net pots. I already have roots coming out of the netpots.

My questions is: I am already detecting a skunky smell in the grow area. The plants are a mix of pretty good unknown strain seeds ( I only kept seeds from select buds that were both flavorful and potent), feminized KillaWatt indica, and Thai Skunk Haze. Is it normal for vegging plants to smell? And am I probably in for some really stinky plants when I go into flowering.

This is my first indoor grow. Growing outside I never noticed smell too much.

Thanks

yup, i got that smell too, its not that bad yet. Im guessing its just the beginning of the resin production, some seem to stink more than others. But ya im guessing its normal I have done 3 grows all of them smell skunky. They smell more if you stress them. I dont know whats behind the smell or if tis bad. But like i said i have had 2 sucessfull crops smell like that in veg. And i have one now smelling like that in veg.

Oh they'll kick up a hell of a stink under the warm lights . They actually smell less skunky during flowering. And in the end, the buds smell almost citrus like. I'm sure it's different for different strains.

I wonder about skunkyness. Seems that there are different strains have different common smells. I've noticed, spicy or citrus. I've also seen more musty smelling. And finally the skunk. And usually, I find that skunkyness correlates with the strength of your smoke, plus allows for a nice smoke went combusted. Not too harsh, but with at taste.
I've also notice that retail seeds, (most of everything I've came across growing has been bagseed, so to speak) like some autos are very piney scented in it's aroma. But I also notice that same pine, very distinct, scent on a dna moby dick haha or something, and there's a dna hashplant that has a pine, mixed with a Clorox detergent smell. Not real potent of a smell, but there. So that's different. But back to skunk.
I've come to question whether skunk is correlated with the plant age. I know of a plant that was spicy when first flowered, but that plant was reveged and since had clones taken from it, and the clones turn out nice golf ball sized, dense, (never knew what that word meant till I saw this things grow, and they come from bagseed!) buds, with dominant smell of skunk, after dried and cured. So that makes me think that the age of the plant correlates with the skunk pheno aroma, which in turn is a stronger smoke.
Sorry to talk so much, just an interesting topic, I think. The true strength coming from what ever plant, is a long time getting there, first time from seed. Clones already have a maturity to make the most of the potency in the bud. Of course condition can do anything, but as a general rule I believe this to be true.
Thanks for the question.

Well they are in the flower room now in a flood and drain 12/12 under 600HPS. I have plenty of ventilation in the room, a pretty powerful 6"canfan that runs 12/12 plus inline 4" vent boosters exhaust and intake that run all the time. I only have 4" boosters in the veg room plus oscillating fans in both rooms that run constantly.
One thing that amazes me is that I took clones from each of five plants to go into veg and they all look like they are going to make it. After day one I wasn't so sure. I followed riu advice and used clonex and 1.5" rockwool as medium, in a prop tray with tall lid that I mist every day with 5-6 PH H2O. The reason I was amazed is that this is the first time attempting cloning. I will update the post and when I get some young ladies to look at I will figure out how to post pics.

With a strain like skunk, what do you expect??

And yes, it'll smell way worse when their flowering.

Please read my thread below.

Best of luck.

ClosetGrowth, thanks for the info. I have read quite a bit and had some idea about smell, but have never been in the midst of a full flowering grow area. I don't have to worry about smell in the house. Depending on how far a really stinky plant smell will travel once its exhausted from its room. No one is typically near the area due to property lines and fences. We have actual skunks in the area that occasionally spray for some reason and the whole area will stink for days. I probably will buy a carbon filter and put it on the intake side of the lamp just to help. I also don't have too many people at my house and no one near my grow area period.
