Slimmy Roots

I have been growing for about a year now and decided to go hydro for my clones. Recently my clones are starting the get this clear slimmy goo on them, I have cleaned my hydroponic with hydrogen perixide 35% and it is still coming back. Anysubjestion, I'm pulling my hair out, trying to fix this.

Ok thats the begining of root rot. First of all did you buy or make your system. Next what is the temperature of the water? And finally can any light get to the roots?

We made the cloner and it worked awesome for the first couple of months. The water is warm but I'm unsure of the temp. and not light can get in

Are the plants starting to wilt? Also if the water is warm it MIGHT be too warm. Use a kitchen thermometer, anything over 70 is not optimal. Rex temps are a common issue without good ventilation. They sell rez chiller for this purpose, also some people use frozen bottles to keep temps down. You could just try lowering the temp in the room.

But you really need to check the temp for me to help you more.

Also Hydro/Organic nutes can stain roots brown, but not slimy.

They are new cuttings with no roots, and the slim grows within a few days and covers the whole bottom of the stem, cutting off the nutes to the plant and then the plant dies. The water is probably too warm I will try and lower the temp of the water

It doesnt covers to clay pelets that the new seeds are in. I also read that it might be city water???

Nah bro. That sounds just like pythium (root rot). I would clean your system thoroughly with bleach or H2O2. Everything. And start fresh. You can try and use h2o2 but usually it doesnt get rid of it. Also you could try hygrozyme. Its a pretty awesome enzyme that is supposed to help prevent pythium.

We cleaned our system 4 different times both with bleach and h2o2, the last time was 2 days ago. I just checked and 2 clones are covered in the slim.

Did you run bleach water through the sprayer nozzles and all the hydroton or whatever medium you use (neoprene disc)?

Ive never heard of a fungus living in city water, so there must be an outside source.

Do you use molasses?

Yes we run the bleach water through the system for about 45mins then run clean water for about 30 mins, the neoprene discs are new and never used

I would add a tsp of h2o2 per gallon of water in the rez. Use it with your nutes. This will help fight the formation of any bacteria. Also check the temps and see if they ever get over 70-75 after the ice bottle melts. Good kitchen thermometers will read this and they are 5 bucks at walmart.

Res temperature is key here. You will continue to get pythium if your res temp is too warm. You should be around 65-68*f, or lower. The water should feel cool to touch, not tepid and definately not warm. I would sterilize everything, and find some effective way to consistantly keep the temperature in the optimal range. Once you've got the system running at a consistantly cool temp, you shouldn't have any more problems.

i have got the goo now also im going to change the rez and make sure i have cool water in it. can i keep my plants or should i start new?
