i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to stop slugs from eating my plants. I have upside down clumps of sod about 3 feet from my girls that i flip and get rid of any slugs underneath and i have tried beer traps. i only check them about every 5 days and visually inspect for any on the plant. thanks in advance for the help.

got any pictures? i would love to see some weed eating slugs. i have never had them attack my plants.

not yet i dont have a camera but im planning on getting one. soon!! i know that it's slugs because when i visit my plants they are all over em. real pain in the ass.

I just ran into an article in High Times August edition. If you have slugs go and get some white sand and put them around the bottom of your plants... If you have a little ditch put the sand all around the base....Pests and slugs deff hate the sand. Try it out let me know how it goes. :peace: bongsmilie

There are slug repellents at most grocery store garden centers.. if in pots you can put moth balls around (don't if in ground).. or cover pots with vaseline so they can't climb up... cayenne pepper can be used if in soil... Luck.

if they're in the ground you deff dont want to be putting anything that can alter your ph. Such as salt or moth balls. If you want a cheap effective way deff use some sand try and get white sand at an artsandcraft store. cheap and organic.

sand. i never thought of that. im gonna see how that works. i just got pic and now i need the cable to upload them onto my computer. they are in the ground so salt and mothballs are not an option. is there a special recipe for using ceyenne peppers or just run threw a blender with water and then spray?

a long time local grower told me today to put metal shavings around the base of the plants. slugs and any other pests try to get to the plant and get cut to shreds by the sharp edges of the metal. the white sand has been working great. new damage at a minimum. yay.

This should work, but if it is steel, you risk iron toxicity. One of my babies seems to have it from a few bbs in the soil. Those slugs are tough. I go out every night and burn them with a lighter. They stay alive until they SMOKE(gets ya stoned,too). I may try crushing lightbulbs or other thin glass and putting it at the base of the stem with some cu.

Copper wire will do the trick wind some around the bottom of the stalk and they will not cross it. I have used it for a few years on my outdoor and no problems. Stops snails too! You can buy a mesh like I use from these guys, the mesh expands with the plant, it" the dope and only 14$ a roll.

Slug will devour your whole plants. Use Slug Shields. I tried them last year and they worked. My plants were decimated after only a couple of day not being out there. I put the shields on and the eating stopped overnight. I swear that these saved my plants and the worked for the whole rest of the season. I got them on online. They are also on Twitter. 100% non-toxic.

A really great solution for slugs is the Slug Shield. I got them at my grow shop and they saved my garden. Best is that they last all season and you don't have to check on them.
