Without any information or pictures I’ll give it a shot.. could be improper lighting, improper watering habits, lack of nutes, too many nutes, could be a ph imbalance, might be bugs, your res water is to warm, could just be genetics. Many other possible reasons but I would suspect one of those first.

Might be basil
