I was wondering if I could grow 1 auto flower with a 150 watt HPS light. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is it a budget thing restricting you, or space/stealth? You can surely grow it with that much light, but i would probably shoot for more. I know today i saw a 400watt HPS with a built in ballast on ebay for $30 with free shipping. Had a legit hood too, not just a wing. If its a money thing, invest a little more and you'll be glad.

Well first of all thank you for your input, it's not a money thing it's more of a experimental and space thing. I am a newbie for growing indoors and will be moving to a permanent address in six months, I have a couple of these small light's not doing anything and have the itch to play with some auto flower seeds that I have. Thanks again for the advice and I'll wait to get my new place set up and do it,right

Actually that would be just about right for one auto. A 2'x2' space would be appropriate, with reflective sides, like mylar or at least white.

That's what I was thinking also, I do fairly well outdoors but I know indoors is a whole nother game. I'm gonna germinate one of my northern lights seeds and see what I can do, I'm laid off work till spring so I have lots of time to pamper her. I'm sure I'll be asking a ton more questions as I get going. Thanks everyone for your input and I hope to get to know you all as time goes on

You can grow with less wattage than that even. Question is, what scale results are you looking for?

In addition to the great advice you'll receive from the folks here, I'd suggest watching some "closet grow" view on YouTube to see what's possible with various light setups and levels of micromanagement.

I will be more than happy to bring a healthy plant full term, just to get my feet wet. The outdoor harvest has been great this year so I'm not in any need for quantity but more to see what kind of quality I can achieve , I'm expecting to much first time out, but I've done a lot of research and do have a game plan for my permanent room. Thanks for the utube advice I'll check it out

You can grow with as little light as 30w per square foot. 50w is about the recommended. And 80w is probably the upper limits of it.

Very nice looking plants, I thought I read on here somewhere that I could use HP's all the way, but it's reassuring to see and hear it from someone that knows what they're doing. Thank you for the info and the pic, I always love to see healthy plants growing. I think I like growing them more than smoking them lol

Those look good nugachino, I do notice some yellowish in the leaves, is it hard to determine deficiency's with indoors and it looks like you have it under control

You can grow them with hps and all sorts of lights. The reason we switch from hps to mh is due to one having more red than blue light emitted. Blue is more for the leaves. And red for the flowers and fruits of plants.
It's a good idea to have around 30% blue with any red light. That way it's more balanced. As leaves don't instantly shut down during the flowering phase. Also. You can use that 30-70 ratio for the whole grow.

Well you answered another question, I was going to ask if I should run my little 150 fluorescent at the same time, that would give a little blue light wouldn't it?

I'm fairly new myself. This is about as far as I've been with a grow. Had a couple I started but didn't finish due to anxiety issues. Done a ton of research and learned from the others I partially done. I try to help when I can. If I can't help I wont say anything. A good site with alot of info is www.growweedeasy.com
