Small plant driving me nuts...

Here's the deal... Earlier this summer I planted 6 plants in a desolated area in the middle of a variable jungle. I went back and found that only one plant was still alive, and after about 3 1/2 months of growing was only about 13" tall with one little bud and 2 seeds on top of it. I took it out, put it in water and brought it home. I planted it in my back yard with some 3-10-5 starter fertilizer (very little) and put about 2" of grass/leaf compost around the top of it. It came back and seemed to be doing well.

Now, a couple problems I see:

First, all the bottom leaves are turning yellow.

Second, and this is wierd, in the morning I'll go out and check on it - it will look fine. In the afternoon after the sun has been beating on it it is real droopy and looks like it's about to die... this is the second day in a row ive noticed that.

Just looking for an opinion or two, maybe some helpful tips to make this baby thrive?

Thanks

I water in the sun, just don't get the leaves wet. The drops can magnify the sun light and create burns. water whenever you can push your finger down to the big 2nd knuckle and it's dry.
