Small roots

Hi folks, nooby question here, these Blue Treacle Autos harvested 60 days late and here's the roots, any clue as to what i did wrong at the beginning plse?

Good watering practices usually help promote good root growth. Also veg time makes a difference too. The bigger the plant, the more roots will be grown to hold said plant in place.

…..I like starting on the outside and working my way to the inside to help the roots stretch to the edges of the pot. They also could have been root bound too.

So, they may have just required that much root? and maybes a smaller pot ?

From my understanding, with autos, It's best to plant right into the final pot. Transplants with an auto can stall them a bit. Every day matters with autos. It's much different for photos.
