Tap water is fine I’ve been using it for years with no problem I leave it overnight just to get room temp as I find it too cold from tap, just add nutes and ph down as tap water is normally around 7 ph.Tap water will not harm your plant,if it’s safe to drink, use it it’s FREE:)
I hope you know that not all tap water in the world comes from the same source! just because one is deemed 'fine', doesn't mean another city's water supply is great for plants! Don't pass false info along as newbies may not know better and will take it for the truth! Also, tap water is generally closer to a ph of 8. Alkaline is preferred to 7 or below so as to preserve the pipes. Tap water straight from the tap is naturally too high of a ph and possibly even has a high carbonate value, which is more important than just the ph.

If you can drink it so can your plants how have I gave false info?? Giving tap water at correct ph can’t kill your plants if it can show me proof as I’ve grown over 15 years and never had issues.its also a lot cheaper than buying bottles of ro water, each grower will grow with what suits them And if it ain’t broke......

Ok..im able to drink cognac..does that mean the plant can as well? lol My tap water is also clean, I only use that, but there are places where it's not advisable to give it to plants. In your case it works, fine, but that doesn't mean that everyone who reads these forums has tap water that is ideal..your right doesn't make their situation right as well ;)

10 or so years ago I had some bag seeds, threw them into some dirt from the yard that was in a cup by the kitchen window and only used beer for watering... Seedlings died very soon after sprouting. ,
Though if you can drink it (water that is) it's probably ok for your plants. Set it out for 24 hours to evaporate chlorine, or spend $100-$150 and get a RO unit. Good luck

Humans have a much higher tolerance for things like sodium than say a plant would. Also, most people's city water does not contain chlorine anymore, it contains chloramine, which does not evaporate!

Valid point. It's why I went with a RO system, but removed the actual osmosis chamber so it's just a dechlorinator. I'm lucky enough to get a 30-40ppm straight outta the tap. Best thing I can think of would be to call whoever you pay for water service (or check online), most cities should have a list of whatever's in your water.

Im not the OP of this thread lol..i never once said i had a water problem or that my tap water wasn't suitable. People don't seem to read the whole thread..they jump in mid topic and fire away irrelevant things:) i use tap water as mine is ok, was simply pointing out that it's not the case everywhere! As for tap water not being toxic as above poster mentioned..you clearly may not understand the dynamics at play. Some tap water is filled with too much iron or too much sodium..some can have a very high carbonate value that even if ph'd, won't matter. Some can contain too much led. Again, just because we humans don't drop dead from it, does not mean a plant will grow perfectly well and happy in it! Noone is hating...millenials automatically think that if they are not agreed with, that they are a hater lol. Happy growing everyone.

Very true. I get away with it fine. But if i had really hard water i wouldnt.
Councils put calcium carbonate in the water to stop the growth of algae, and prevent the pipes from rusting when water's sitting in the pipes.
Personally, mine's fine for DTW. But, it was FUCKED for my water farm.
Not only do they add the carbonate, some dams are dug ontop/from, a huge layer of limestone and the lime raises the ph aswell.

Didn't mean you as in you.. Meant as in whomever is unsure about their water. Instead of thinking if its safe for humans or are they're too many carbonates. Just call your water service.

Not sure about the millennial thing, not sure what sensitive children have to do with anything?? Happy growing to you as well.

Check your ec. And get a reading of your soil ph, using the slurry method. Make sure theyre in check, and go from there.
It may be burn.
