Which gallon size is the one that grows trees? 20gal, 100, 200? Also any advice on where to get a good deal one?

I would say 100 gal and up.

a used kiddie pool from a yard sale or 99 cent store. lol:weed: my fence height restricts me bongsmilie

Do you find the roots are growing through the drain holes significantly by the time you pull it up at the end of the season? Just wondering about the wide shallow size of it as a container, and how that supports such an awesome plant.

Looks very healthy! And very nicely shaped, looks like you've done this before ;)

As far as pot size goes, it depends on how much room you have, and money -- filling one or more 300 gallon with good soil can add up (getting a huge pot and filling it with poor soil is a waste of time, IMHO). I went with 100 gallon, but I'm not looking for maximum quantity, just something bigger than I can grow in the closet during the winter! LOL

If you are literally talking about planting this season, you probably won't need anything bigger than a 20 gallon, since there's not really enough time left for the roots to take advantage of a huge pot... unless you are on the other side of the equator and you are planning for the upcoming season...

I grew in 100's and 150's last year.
This year 200's. I had just as big, or even bigger plants last year in the smaller pots. Many will disagree, and I'm not to the finish line yet, but I see no difference between the two sizes.
I vote for the 100's

Can I even have a 100 bag tree in my back yard in Los Angeles if I'm a patient? Size doesn't matter right?

Dosnt matter as long as you don't mind the attention your neibors might look stylus little funny with a 20 foot tall 10 foot wide tree haha.

I think it will cost about 1 dollar per gallon to fill the pot up in soil...each tree could be worth from 2000 bucks upwards of 10,000 bucks wholesale price

There's no out of site when theres helicopters flying above and three feet walls from my neighbors but they're mostly older
if ur legal they wont bust you. im in cali too. about security, when your plants big enough i head some people stick small razor blades in the trunk for thieves. get medieval on their asses, its your property and theyre intruders.

about being a patient you only have a plant limit, not how big the plants are. to them its no difference if you have 6 2 ft tall plants or 6 12 ft tall plants.

I've never grown in larger than 65 gallon smart pots, and they produce very large plants. The smart pots allow the roots to actually grow through the bottom, and into the ground. One thing to think about when going 100 gallon or bigger is the cost associated with soil, nutes etc. You can also wash out your nutrients in the soil, when going over 100 gallon or bigger. For me it's not cost effective, than going bigger than 65. Again, this is just from my experience. Good luck.
