Unfortunately, they're not exactly screw and play. You gotta screw them to a heat sink, connect to a driver and perhaps set up a fan. This isn't as difficult as it might sound.

It's all a trade off. CFL's are cheap & simple, while these COB's are more expensive and more difficult to work with in order to provide superior efficiency. You can learn a great deal in LED section if you want to give them a try.

Wow!! Got my mind wandering now, so it works out about $180 per unit? And how many cobs in a unit? Is it just one or can I put several cobs in a unit?

oh no, the price is cheaper,, the cob is 34 ,, heat sink 8.99 , cob holder is 2 bucks, driver for the cob is 16.95
some cheap thermal grease like 4 bucks, some wire, you can use speaker wire, a chepo extension cord from home depot 2 bucks
comes to 67 dollars total

the beauty of this is, you can run one cob , if thats all you can afford, you can ad more cobs as you get money, check my current grow in a 2 foot deep by 3 foot wide ,, I am flowering under 2 cobs, and its rockin
