Sorry to see a bunch of assholes on here have been rude to you for this thread. I think it's a common concern with the increasingly potent shit out there. I personally can smoke mids all day full function, but it loses the lovely effects of better bud. I learned some of my growing from my dad, who's in his late sixties now, and he called what you're talking about "working weed".
My best advice would be for your next harvest, harvest a little earlier, or at the very least leave the full-flowered stuff for your kids, and do a staggered harvest or something similar. The earlier harvested weed will be a little more energetic and a little less potent, so you could set that aside for yourself. For the stuff you have now, I would normally recommend mixing in tobacco or shake, but you mentioned you don't want to screw up the taste, and that definitely will degrade the taste. You could always use flavored tobacco, but of course you won't have the original taste of the weed you were smoking.
I used to smoke exotics all day every day, as I suffer from anxiety disorder and depression as well as ADHD, but eventually I got concerned that I wasn't accomplishing what I could if I smoked less, and I think that may be true. A select minority of people I know can smoke and be super stoned but still accomplish basic tasks; me, I get super lazy and just want to watch reruns or play videogames all day. I personally like to mix in shake, as I don't like the negative health risks associated with tobacco (but keep in mind, cannabis drastically reduces those negative effects).
BTW, one person mentioned harvesting later for greater amounts of CBN, but the general consensus is that the greater the amount of CBN the more "sleepy" the high, often described as the morphine of marijuana. This is great news for me when getting insomnia episodes from my anxiety, but not so good for either of us when we're trying to smoke a nice doob and then lay some concrete. I would not recommend doing a later harvest, but an earlier one.
