So let's say I rub against some plants and smoosh all the trichs before harvest, do they (the trichs) grow back so I can check for potency?

Good question, I doing so makes you halla stinky, in a good way but still stinky.
If you smesh them with a finger its best to cut the finger off and smoke the whole thing.

I consider it like when lettuce or any other produce gets bruised. Makes it tough to determine when the trics are actually ready if you have don't it multiple times specially if you have older eyes.

Aren't you just suppose to roll it off into a ball. I guess if you gardened naked you couldn't roll it off everywhere you came in contact with the plant..

They will eventually grow new trichs around that area if you are in early flowering. As a few had stated, they turn orange and die. I would not worry unless you sat on the entire plant or some shut like that. Good luck brah
