Astronomy is everything i Have a Meade etx 80 model telescope doesnt work as my nephews broke the barlow lens area.. Anyone Know any other good Beginner scopes?

how the earth was made is gonna be on tonight along with underwater universe, its not as good as nat geo's drain the ocean but its still pretty good. fucking nat geo played dog whisperer all day. really pisses me off. lol

OMG YES...I like most sciences. The only one I can't wrap my mind around is chemistry because I happen to be absolutely terrible at math and solving equations and the like...but:
Astronomy
Biology (especially forensic biology, and Mendelian Genetics)
Psychology (especially forensic, abnormal psychology and the psychology of addictive behavior); I own the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) and the MMPI (Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory)
Philosophy (especially ethics/bio-medical ethics)
...etc...
I LOVE to learn. I watch a lot documentaries including BBC's "Planet Earth" and still have a bazillion textbooks from all the amazing classes I took in college.

awesome, ya know ive realized something ironic(i think thats the right word/way to say it). The anti drug mj people try to say that smoking will make you dumb and lazy and not want to learn or do anything....while they go home at night and watch shit like american idol and all that trash.

I saw something on it that was pretty fucking crazy, they took these rodents of some sort that does not stay with same mate, they put this virus into the dna of the rodents and their offspring stayed with one mate. No joke, ive seen it on nat geo chnnel twice. Its kind of crazy as hell but thats where most of the animals that do stay together and *care* for each other originated too i'd bet. Probally was responsible for alot of our breakthroughs in feelings and understanding and self awerness in our evolutionary path to where we are today too.

The Yellowstone Caldera, now that is a scary thing!
I have read that if that thing erupts, it is pretty much goodbye to the majority of life as we know it.
And as for your thoughts on Dinosaur extinction, and the programme you watched on........nat geo was it?? What other examples do they give for the extinction, I mean, I haven't seen the programme but in my opinion it was a whole heap of things, but it was the asteroid that triggered most of it.
One of the worlds largest crater holes (this is from memory so I don't mind if someone wants to correct me) is in Mexico and it meassure's 170 kilometers in diameter. I'm no good at maths but that must be about 120km from one side to the other. Now that is huuuuuuuuuuuge, so, on impact anything within 2000km give or take is practically dead, and most likely instantly, once the inicial impact has happened, the rest is leathal gases and radiation poisoning, killing most wild life, and trees ect...now in my opinon that would still not kill off everything, but the impact itself would most likely trigger massive earthquakes disrupting tectonic plate movement and in turn triggering volcanic eruptions, and big ones. Blowing hot ash in to the air and covering the surrounding land in meters and meters of ash, whatever doesn't die from suffocation incially will die eventually from the poisoning from breathing the toxic air.
There are many more factors to it, but that is a simplified version, and if anyone wants to build on it. feel free! So yeah, I'm interested to know what they are thinking killed the dinosaurs now! Please, if you have time let me know.
Darkdestruction420 when and if you have time, and enjoy reading you HAVE to read Bill Bryson's "A short history of almost everything" It is so full of information about these soughts of things!! And the way he has written the book makes it totally comprehensive! It is an easy read for whoever is interested. Such a cool book!
Anyway thats my 2 cents, anyone wanna pitch in!??
Now this is my opinion with a few scientific "facts" in there aswell, I am not claiming that this is exactly what happened, it is basically what i have come up with just thinking about it, and reading heaps.

The dinosaur one im trying to find the episode and watch it, They made many good arguments, but i cant really remember much of it anymore. It was basically that yes, it did finish them off, but it was given far too much credit since it appears alot of the larger species died off before the impact and the survivors are now our modern day birds, the little dinosaurs didnt go extinct, they evolved, most of the big guys were long gone by then. its really interesting, i think ive found the video if your interested, im going to watch it and see if its the one.
