I spend A LOT of money on tweed. So does my girl and my brother. 1000 divided by 3 people isn't that much when a q is going for 100 or an o for 300-350. Do the math on that weekly and watch your bank account dwindle and BAM! Im a aspiring horticulturist. Im going to buy a couple books, but I find the internet and people with hands on experience is the way to go. Gotta spend money to do it right. Im not trying to cfl for 6 months before I figure out I need HID. : )

thats the mistake I made... starting out, I tried to do everything based on what I could afford, not what I needed to do the task properly... you may spend more money up front, but that will save you from having to constantly "upgrade" your cheap-o stuff

yeah...it's def not a cheap start-up. But a lot of the stuff like lights, tents, thermometers, tarps, etc....I won't have to buy again. Next purchase is another 600 watt set-up for veg so when these go into flower Ill be ready in the wings when they come out. Ipower 600 watt set-up on amazon 175 with a shitty refelctor..230 with a vented one+ 140 for a vitrul sun tent on ebay...375 isn't bad to start. Plus nutes, soil, ph stuff, pots...maybe 200. What better do I have to spend my money on? I have no kids and very little clothes....so my closets are empty. lol : )

Yup...that looks about right! I feel at home already. Uhm, whats the dif between the T5 I thin you have(seen it on youtube) and a 4 ft long t12 shop light for 19.99 at walmart? Also...Im not vegging my sprouts under a 4 footer right now..have a small 24 inch in a 2x2 box going diagonal right up on the little ladies...and 4 desk top lamps with 100 watts in each corner...you think this is enough light for seedlings or should I switch over to what you have or something similar? Who needs more than a couple shirts anyway. ; )

oh...and I put a tarp down. I vaccumed up a clod of dirt in my hallway last week and it turned into a huge shit-spot looking thing. Took a shampooer to get it out. No more of that. My shit looks pro-fession-al.

I put my seedlings under a single 2ft. T5... its all I have room for
When I see the second set of "true" leaves, they go into 6 inch pots and under a 175watt MH for a little while... I don't know how that "shop light" would work

back at it doing my homework. Thanks for letting me know what you're working with. Im going to do more research. Looks like I might have to purchase a 24 in T5 for the good seeds in a couple weeks. I have a small 18 inch under cabinet fluorescent that says 17 w..and 3 100 watt cfl bulbs on bendable necked desk lamps. Its a pain getting in there to water because you have to move the desk lamps every time and bend them just right. But one desk lamp covers a dixie cupped seedling perfect..and the inside of the lamp housing is all white...kinda covers it perfectly. Don't know if this is enough light for each seedling or not. My older seedlings are 3 weeks old and have just sprouted their 3rd set of leaves(not the big leafy ones..the little celydon leaves have turned yellow..and the thee are 3 sets total after that)

Im holding off on the coco....I purchased a 3 c. ft. bag from amazon for 40 bucks with shipping, and just going to save it for my next grow to try out. I forgot I already purchased a HESI soil starter kit, and don't want to return it or buy a coco set. Next go round it's on though.
