So i have a question about strain/genteics/pheno type?

Hey guys new to here,
anyway i live in Australia and have a while back acquired some seeds online, not from a seed bank either ( i think you know where haha)
anyway it was claimed they were old mother sativa or "mullumimbi madness" which of course i cant be sure is true, they are growing well and are about 3 foot at the moment as we are at the start of our outdoor growing season.
He says they have the potential to get huge as some sativas do, as in 12 to 15 foot, but as im in southern australia and they are not in full sun i doubt they will,

But my question is about pheno type. It seems of all of the seeds i put in i have to different looking plants, precisely half and half.
One the leaves are lighter green, larger, and with more leaflets per leaf (11 max so far) but also fatter.
The other is has skinny and longer leaves (more sativa looking), and only 7 leaflets per leaf, darker green, also alot more bushy.
The second plant type i mentioned is doing a lot weller and seems more healthy looking than the first.

I plan to seed these plants. Is it likely they are the same strain with just diff pheno? and how does that work exactly??
OR could the guy have just given me two diff strains..
AND if i seed them should i try two plants of the same pheno, or just with the healthiest of either.
i mean if they are the same strain and i i seed a plant with the same pheno would the other pheno still be in the genes???? i guess thats my main question...

Its a good point you bring up here,my last grow was from bag seed and i seen the same thing your seeing now,the bag seed was very good stuff,with a hash taste to it and hash smell,i wondered the same thing,how do you know what you actally getting when buying seeds online,i have 8 plants growing now that was fom some really good weed i got in thailand ,and 8 more from bag weed,,the thai plants are very strange looking,not like the others from bag seed here in usa.
im interested in makeing a cross of the 2 grows before summer,and use those seeds for an outdoor grow,
interested in seeing what other coments you get,good post!

Since them seeds came from unknown origin, it is really hard to tell if they belong to the same mother weed plant. But even if they do came from the same mother, still the possibility if having different phenos is possible. Different Phenos that you see could be the result of throwbacks or the old genes of the parents showing in the hybrid.

You can breed by choosing the healthiest of the lot and discarding the weak ones or those that did not produce well. But the resulting hybrid of the cross may no longer look the same as the original that you have because of new genes infused in the new hybrid.

thanks guys, well there is one clear winning as far as health goes which im hoping is female, but i dont know if i should seed her or use to harvest bud. if its male though he will definitely be the father plant haha.

The ONLY way to determine which phenotype is the superior plant is to smoke it at various levels of maturity. Some plants can be top drawer in both early and full maturity, hence the need for such testing.

If you seed the whole plant you will get 1000's of seeds. One small branch will be enough to get 100's

Females should be seeded around the second week of flowering when there are a lot of pistols showing , this will give you the six weeks needed to get the seeds ripe before harvest

i hand polinated 3 lower branches of my best male and female on last grow and cut those branches after 6 weeks,let the rest of the plant finish out at i believe 12 weeks,i got maybe about 150 seeds from those braches,the top of plant was unaffected,so u can get plenty of seeds from just a couple small braches on the lower plant,

oh thanks you just answered the other question in the back of my mind about seeding and whether resin production slows in the rest of the plant if some branches
are pollinated

Resin on my seeded bud was similar to the rest of the plant just with seeds
