So i looked at lights and....

No Irish coffee this morning. In fact I hardly ever drink, and hardly have for years. I would guess that it has been no less that five or six years since I had any alcohol, and that was Jello shots on New Years Eve. I did do a fistful of percs late last night and have been up now for 28-hours. They tend to have a speed-like effect on me.

I am a legend? Are you taking a piss?

The figures were not actual prices, they were difference figures between the price of the light he asked about and the Lumateks I used for examples of getting a lot more lighting for less money. Each figure was how much less each Lumatek would cost him than the light he asked about. That is why the 1000-watt light had what looked like a lower price than the 600-watt light. That is also why I said "For $185.00 less than" and "For $381.00 less than."

A while after posting the message I thought about how I said prices do not include shipping and thought it might cause some confusion even with the less than parts so I was going to go back and edit it, but I got sidetracked doing something else and forgot.

Sorry for any confusion.

1- No not "taking a piss", It was a sincear statement- Although I don't spend much time in the growing sections of this forum, I am aware that you are one of the members with solid information and advise - a true wealth of knowladge- You FDD, Uncle Ben, Real Styles are a few of the knowlagble people on the site that i'm aware of,
2- Sharper than me even after a sweety itchy racy night- This is why you are legend, I missed the less than- I got schooled, although I hope your prices seem pretty close to what the ballast by it self should run so I guess your talikng about with the hood also? And I think we agree he was right about the HID part- Oh well no disrespect
when I used to do opiates it would have me racing and all euphoric and talkitive

sorry about the delay posting but ok, so the t5 are a waste of cash. I have 2 400watt clfs and a 200watt cfl that i use for flowering. I know i wont get as much yield from my ladies as if i had the hps, but right now i cant spare any more extra $$$$ and im sure the electric bill will go up as well. SO will it be ok if i flower them under my 3 cfls on a 12/12. then harvest some plants and a few clones then go out and buy an hps??

t5 are not a waste of cash. they are great for cloning they are great for hardening off the plants after cloning. Some use them to keep mothers, I believe because of its less than stellar veg growth compared to HID's (MH or HPS). 2ndly, I wont get in an arguement with BT, ballasts are cheap (relativly) BUT bulbs get pricey (EYE 1K MH is about 220$), hoods cost money too (if you choose to go that way) and your elec bill is a factor too. so as far as price goes, those are all things to look at. lastly, I personally like T5 lights better than CFL's, so if I had a choice I would run a t5 or bigger with some side t5's before I ran a CFL, again, I believe thats really about opinion and growing tech's..

I think it's fair to compare a DIY HID setup with CFLs or fluoros. Depending on the kind of bulbs you use, there can be a fair amount of installation to set it up.

1000W HID ballast kit $100
Mogul socket & cable $20
Misc items (eg power cord) $20
ebay cool tube $45
Bulb $60 (wide range on this )

Total $245

I have read and it has been my experience that watt for watt flouros are less efficient than HIDs so a comparable flourescent setup would have to be substantialy more powerful than 1000W
