So...you can't transplant Autos?

Two Alien V Triangle F2 and two Ripleys OG, both about 1 week from seed. Two of my last autos stunted and I started them in the pots they were meant to finish it. I think it happened because they fell to one side and I tried supporting them with lollipop sticks and string. I must have ended up stressing them. I made a decision to start them in solo cups this time as it is much more managable for fragile seedlings. So far they look way better then starting them in the pots. They will be transplaned to 3 gallon grow bags in 5 or 6 days. If I fail...I fail in front of everone. I know others do this with ease but I'm a relative newbie. Watch this space this coming thursday April 12th :bigjoint::bigjoint::bigjoint:M.jpg

I think in theory, if you keep potting up before the roots arrive at the edge and start circling, you could transfer them without them even knowing it.
I read through the Mephisto grow guide and they do it all the time. The key is waiting til the plant shows it's sex, letting the soil in the solo cup get pretty dry before transplant, starting off with a mild soil (they like biobizz light), and making sure the medium your are transplanting into is moist. They also recommend using something like biobizz light mix as a core, or the top half of the pot, and a slightly hotter soil around it. I will use FFOF as that is what I have and I have had good results previously.

I’ve transplanted countless autos, I’ve even took one out of the ground with a shovel and moved it to a different spot. You always want to be as careful as possible though and transplant before it’s about to flower so it can get a good bit bigger

I think the point is if you transplant an auto you lose time due to the shock caused to the plant....like you lose 3 to 5 days of growth.

It is like trimming or topping. The loss of time is not worth the end gain.

But that being said with a monster auto you have a lot more liberty to do as you want. They have more time to recover. LST is the preferred auto training an I think a SCROG would work pretty damned good with a monster auto. I will never know i save my auto seeds for outside and in about a month i am popping 3 amnesia and 1 cheese auto D:

Some shock / stall , some don't.

I Put a few in solos , waited til the leaf set hits rim ( like yours ) .... Have final pot ready with core area open , sprinkle a little MYCOS or Spray a little Thrive Alive to moisten , tilt cup carefully and seat " PLUG " in center. Light misting then let her be .

Roots will have already begun to circle cup , but remember there is a " finite " amount of veg time before she throws sex. You can do the same shit with seed germed in rooter plug or rock cube.

Autos are plug and play.

So..I re-read the Mephisto grow guide and it said transplant at 7 days and not 2 weeks like I said earlier. anyway. So I transplanted everything today and it went very smoothly. No tearing of roots, or even loss of soil from the any of the root ball's. Very clean transfer. The soil in the solo cup was still pretty most, but when i saw the root poking through I knew I'd have a problem on my hands if i waited any longer. Fingers crossed!1.jpg 2.jpg 4.jpg

The soil in the grow bags is tiered. The bottom half is FFOF and the top half is Biobiz light Mix. Since seedlings don't always react well to a hot soil like FFOF the grow guide recommends a tiered approach like this. They also recommend 24/0 and not bothering to PH the water since the medium buffers it. I don't know enough to agree or disagree, but I'm fairly certain these guys know their sh*t..so who am I to argue?
